May your 'root' wither!..

This time, while the "state mind" in the PKK opening initiated by MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli was establishing the equation of "first weapons will be laid down, then legal regulations will be made for the terrorists," the terrorist leader-DEM-PKK insisted on "first legal regulations, then laying down weapons."

It was not long ago, just 10 days ago, that the person responsible for the opening in Parliament, Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) Numan Kurtulmuş, reminded that a roadmap had been revealed with the report they prepared, saying, "Once it is understood that the organization has completely liquidated itself and weapons have been laid down... the TBMM will fulfill its responsibility as soon as possible and legal regulations will be implemented." Following that, as always, he voiced the need for a "new and civil constitution."

Just one week later, last Saturday, he said, "80-90 percent of the terror issue is over. The issue of a terror-free Turkey will soon be closed," and stated that the law to be enacted would never be in the nature of an amnesty.

Clearly, something had happened in the meantime; first, after the AKP MKYK meeting, Spokesperson Ömer Çelik stated on one hand that "laying down weapons is not continuing," and on the other hand, by saying "a legal framework needs to be formed for the terrorist organization to completely lay down its weapons," he signaled a retreat from the equation determined by the "state mind."

Following Çelik, Erdoğan said that "they are working on a legal framework that will accelerate the organization's liquidation process" and that "after making the necessary consultations, they will submit the regulation in question to the discretion of the Parliament without delay."

On the same day, AKP Deputy Chairman Efkan Ala announced that "they will try to complete the framework law regarding the process before the Parliament closes."

As far as we understand, the reason for this rapid turnaround was the submission to Erdoğan of a "framework law" prepared by a commission including the MIT, the Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of Justice, and AKP staff, which also incorporated the suggestions and proposals of the DEM Party and was negotiated with the terrorist leader in Imralı.

We heard this from journalist Yıldıray Oğur and former "wise person" Tarık Çelenk, who participated in a meeting organized by a group of DEM members, including Pervin Buldan, with some NGOs in Istanbul.

"Code Law" or "Root Law"?

The government and its media are creating a spring atmosphere, but the differences in language between them and the terrorist leader-PKK-DEM are glaring.

The government says "terror-free Turkey" stakeholders, "peace and democratic society process"... Again, the government talks about the "50-year terror problem," while its stakeholders talk about the "100-year Kurdish problem."

The law planned to be enacted for the terrorists is the same; according to the government, it is a "code or framework law," while according to the PKK wing, it is a "root law."

So, what do these fellow travelers of the government mean or want when they say "root law"? These are things we know, but let us convey them once again in their own words.

While the work of the PKK commission established in the TBMM was still ongoing, DEM members emphasized that "this most important problem of the Republic cannot be squeezed only into the dimension of armed movement" and that "eliminating the root causes is important," demanding that "policies of denial, rejection, and assimilation be abandoned."

Since that day, the following has been said:

Terrorist leader: "A framework law can form the stem cell of the democratization process."

DEM Co-Chair Tuncer Bakırhan: "We are conducting both a negotiation and a struggle process... Negotiating does not mean giving up on the equal citizenship rights of Kurds and Alevis, or the democratic rights and freedoms of women... Negotiation is not about Kurds giving up their mother tongue. Negotiation is not about Alevis giving up their right to equal citizenship. Only a tool is changing... If it doesn't work, we will struggle. Anyway, there has been a struggle in these lands for 100 years... Turkey's root problem is that the republic has not been completed with democracy... This nation-state understanding has not been able to take hold in the Middle East for 100 years... Historical Turkish-Kurdish relations need to be updated on the basis of equality... The issue we are trying to solve... is the issue of fulfilling political representation and recognition. In this context, the framework law can be the stem cell of democracy... From now on, for a democratic Turkey, for the mother tongue of Kurds, for the recognition of Kurds as a people, for the recognition of the will of Kurds, and for the release of our comrades in prison, to be equal citizens, for a dignified life, we will struggle more... Yes, we have reached an important stage, we have overcome an important obstacle. But our road is long."

DEM Co-Chair Tülay Hatimoğulları: "Unfortunately, where there is a nation-state, the ground for monism, racism, and authoritarianism is much stronger... The democracy package must include strengthened local governments... Where weapons are silenced, the framework law will open the ground for collective rights, equal citizenship, unity in diversity, and local democracy... The Kurdish issue cannot be solved by fitting it into just one law, of course, we are aware of this. But why did we care so much about this law?... Because this root law will prepare a ground for other laws... And for the first time, the Kurdish issue will have been discussed on a legal and judicial basis."

DEM Spokesperson Ayşegül Doğan: "The legal regulation to be made should be the stem cell of democratic transformation... That is, it should be thought of as an initial step that will eliminate the root causes, even the causes lying at the very bottom... The draft law we are talking about should not be seen only as a disarmament law."

Terrorist leaders in Qandil;

Mustafa Karasu: "Regulations focusing only on laying down weapons will not be enough... A root law is needed that will eliminate denial and assimilation and pave the way for democratization. There is a need for a regulation that will pave the way for the solution of the hundred-year-old Kurdish problem."

Murat Karayılan: "We did not say 'we will lay down weapons.' We said, 'we are stopping the strategy of armed struggle.' For weapons to be laid down, Öcalan himself needs to develop this process. In other words, he must be free. This is in the decisions."

KONGRA-GEL Co-Chair Remzi Kartal: "Currently, this is a process that is in the initial stage. For example, demands for status such as federalism and the like are not included in the process at this stage, in this form. Because these require constitutional amendments, and that can only come to the agenda in later stages. Initially; the legal basis for political and democratic work, changing the current laws that constitute an obstacle today, and emptying the dungeons are essential."

The Calendar Determined by the Terrorist Leader

Speaker of the Parliament Kurtulmuş claims that "80-90 percent of the terror issue is over"; as can be seen, his "fellow travelers," whose every word they follow, do not share the same view.

They are shouting loudly that the "root law" intended to be enacted for the terrorists to lay down their weapons is only a beginning, and that they will implement their projects aimed at pouring poison into the root of the Republic only after this.

Look, according to what Pervin Buldan, the voice of Imralı, conveyed, the terrorist leader has even determined the working calendar of the Parliament.

After that law, which he calls the "stem cell law," is enacted before the TBMM closes, regulations in the Turkish Penal Code, the Anti-Terror Law, and municipal laws regarding trustees will come to the agenda in October. Constitutional amendments regarding the solution of the "Kurdish problem" will be the third step!!..

"Dressing the Separatist Terrorist Organization in a Garment of Legitimacy"

While this is the course of events, MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli, the architect of the opening, yesterday, while explaining how important Turkey is for NATO, drew a line, saying, "The era of changing names with letter games and dressing blood-stained terrorist organizations in a garment of legitimacy is over." Is that so?!..

Of course; after making the terrorist leader responsible for the deaths of 40 thousand of our people a "founding leader" and giving him the status of "peace process and politicization coordinator," and after providing his men with such an opportunity to challenge the Republic of Turkey and the Turkish Nation, what is the need for our so-called allies to "dress blood-stained terrorist organizations in a garment of legitimacy by changing their names with letter games"?!
