At the AKP congress held on Sunday, Erdoğan once again slammed the old Turkey and not only warned TÜSİAD and the opposition by saying, "Do not forget, Turkey has changed. Instead of trying to resurrect the old, you must get used to this new Turkey and determine your policies accordingly," but also announced that "while building the Century of Turkey, they will not refrain from fulfilling the task of transforming the opposition step by step."
He praised the People's Alliance partner, the MHP, and Bahçeli as follows:
"The MHP and Mr. Bahçeli have already written their names into Turkish political history with their path-opening, facilitating, supporting, and constructive attitudes in solving all of our country's chronic problems under the umbrella of the People's Alliance. As long as the People's Alliance remains rock solid, Turkey is safe, and the survival of our country and the brotherhood of our nation are under guarantee. This alliance, whose dough is kneaded with the blood of martyrs, will hopefully provide much greater services to our country and our nation for many years to come."
We have seen and are seeing what is and isn't in the "New Turkey," aren't we?
Just think; the task of engaging with the terrorist leader in İmralı fell to Bahçeli, what more could there be?!
That terrorist leader and his organization have never abandoned their goal of a "brand new republic," meaning a "democratic republic," which is to first become a partner to the Republic of Turkey and then to divide the state and the nation.
THE MHP'S DEFINITION OF "NEW TURKEY"
Erdoğan's recent "new Turkey" rhetoric and his messages about "transforming" the opposition brought to mind a historic reaction the MHP showed regarding these issues 11 years ago.
The year was 2014.
Following the targeting of them by the then-Prime Minister Erdoğan, MHP Secretary General İsmet Büyükataman, who still holds the same position, issued a written statement.
In the first paragraph of the statement, it was said: "There are two concepts that have been memorized by the Prime Minister recently and have become his catchphrases. These are the concepts of 'Pennsylvania' and 'New Turkey.' The Prime Minister explains everything and everyone who opposes him with 'Pennsylvania'; he tries to mask separatism, corruption, and impudence with 'New Turkey'."
In the second and third paragraphs, what "new Turkey" meant was explained as follows:
"Tayyip Erdoğan's 'New Turkey' delusions are a denial of the cherished memories of the first Parliament. New Turkey is to ignore the suffering endured; it is to make the bones of the martyrs and the fallen ache and to hurt their spirits. New Turkey is the invention of the foreign-fed elements within us who despise the Kuva-yi Milliye (National Forces) on one hand and take the Kuva-yi İnzibatiye (Caliphate Army) as a reference on the other. The talk of New Turkey is the final resurrection and the use of the last chance for the enemy ambitions whose heads were crushed in Çanakkale, Sakarya, and Dumlupınar, and who were swept into the sea in İzmir. The New Turkey calamity is a project of betrayal in which numbered Republicans hide. In many respects, the 'New Turkey' discourse is the AKP-ized version of the 'second republic' discourse. Renewing a state, subjecting it to reform, and fixing its shortcomings is one thing; blaring the fanfare of a new state like a broken whistle is another."
In the fourth, fifth, and sixth paragraphs, the following assessments were summarized regarding the target of the "new Turkey" discourse:
"The most important goal behind the Prime Minister's 'New Turkey' discourse is the negotiations held with the PKK terrorist organization and their extensions on the political ground... The reason the government plays with the system so much is to transform the Republic and remove everything unique to the Turk within it... The AKP is determined to destroy the three-thousand-year-old Turkish state tradition to establish a state where the Turkish nation does not hold sovereignty. This is what Erdoğan means by 'New Turkey'... His words, 'I am waging a struggle for independence, I am establishing the New Turkey,' are the most ruthless attack and intolerance against history, the nation, and our future."
In the final paragraphs, the reason for Erdoğan targeting the MHP was explained as follows:
"Today, it is clearly seen in the Prime Minister's speech that the path has been set to create the 'New MHP,' which is the only missing leg of the 'New Turkey,' and that social engineering expertise is intended to be practiced on the MHP... Even though the blowflies who want to perform the funeral prayer for Turkey and Idealism (Ülkücülük) are doing their best with desperate efforts to design a new MHP, the Turkish nation and the Idealists (Ülkücüler) are aware of this game. The Prime Minister's delusions of a new Turkey and a new MHP will result in disappointment."
ERDOĞAN'S "SECOND REPUBLIC"
Let us recall the "AKP's second republic" discourse emphasized in MHP Secretary General İsmet Büyükataman's statement.
When Erdoğan was the Istanbul Provincial Chairman of the Welfare Party (Refah Partisi) in 1993, while answering questions within the scope of the "second republic debates," he criticized the "rigid unitary" structure of the Republic of Turkey, claimed that the official ideology was "racist," and in summary, argued the following:
"There are 27 ethnic groups living in the Republic of Turkey. The existence of these 27 ethnic groups must be recognized. Theses such as 'Turkey belongs to the Turks' are wrong... Something similar to the Ottoman provincial system could be done."
MHP Leader Bahçeli also made the following assessment in 2015 regarding these views of Erdoğan: "He responded in a way that no patriot could approve of, and just like the PKK members."
CONTINUING SILENCE ON HÜDA-PAR
Coming to the present day; Bahçeli opened the door to İmralı solely and exclusively for the call to lay down arms to the PKK. In other words, there was to be no give-and-take.
But what do we see? They are entering through the rhetoric of "Kurdish issue," "Kurdish peace," "democratic Turkey," "Kurds speaking their own language," "confronting history"; and they are exiting through the "1921 Constitution," meaning autonomy.
On the other hand, the other partner of the People's Alliance, HÜDA-PAR, is gathering in Diyarbakır and declaring war on the Republic...
It doesn't stop there; for Kemalism, which they show as the cause of the "Kurdish issue," they call it "poison" and "plague," and demand that Kemalists also "dissolve themselves like the PKK"...
In response, except for Deputy Chairman Semih Yalçın's statement the other day, there is still no reaction from the MHP.
What did Semih Yalçın say? After attacking the CHP and TÜSİAD for exactly 72 lines, in the last 6 lines, without specifying names or addresses, he said:
"We do not approve of drawing conclusions from what is not said, or attempting to turn constructive comments in politics into opportunities. We will leave the hopes of those who strive to establish a new solution process under the name of peace and brotherhood and those who dream of democratic autonomy in their throats. Let it not be forgotten: Turkey is one and whole. Our nation will never allow its sovereign rights to be shared through various political excuses and fabrications."
However, not even two years ago, during the election period, MHP Leader Bahçeli had accused Kılıçdaroğlu of being in a "unity of purpose with terrorists" and criticized the nomination of someone who said "Kemalism is racism" as a parliamentary candidate.
In short; it is unknown whether the MHP's views have changed; but it is so obvious that the meaning and goal of "new Turkey" is the "second republic"!..
