That was the only thing you hadn't divided yet!..

Veteran privates and families of martyrs have been sleeping in Güvenpark, the heart of Ankara, for 17 days to demand improvements to their personal rights. That same Güvenpark is the place where the separatist terrorist organization carried out a bomb attack 10 years ago, massacring 36 of our people, most of whom were students.

But the Veteran Parliament will not be working to listen to the voices of the veterans and martyrs in Güvenpark, just 500 meters away, or to discuss the 18 legislative proposals regarding martyrs' families and veterans that have not been brought to the agenda for 24 months; instead, it will work to pass the PKK law, which is heralded (!) as having received the approval of the terrorist leader in İmralı.

DEM co-chair Tülay Hatimoğulları announced at the parliamentary group meeting yesterday that they had entered the "final stretch" for that law, stating, "This is an issue that concerns all of Turkey... We are currently at one of the most critical thresholds in Turkey's political history."

Very true; the PKK law concerns all of Turkey, and we have indeed reached one of the most critical thresholds.

Why is this so? Because the PKK-İmralı-Qandil axis, which has tied the condition of "laying down arms" to the passage of this law, will continue to impose its known demands stage by stage if it succeeds in this—even if the scope is not exactly what they want right now—and will not lay down any arms until the final goal is reached.

Looking at Hatimoğulları's speech yesterday is enough.

She repeated that the issue at hand is the "Kurdish question, which has not been solved for a century due to violence and denial..."

Emphasizing that the terrorist leader in İmralı said, "The law should be the beginning of a new era and a new page," and that the process is being conducted by him, she said, "Kurds have always been denied and ignored until today. Their languages, their existence, their names were ignored. Today, however, Kurds and their friends have reached a strong level of negotiation."

As if there were a "social war," she called for "meeting on the common ground of social peace..."

And contrary to our "unitary-national" structure embodied in our Constitution, she used expressions such as "citizens of Turkey," "our peoples," and "the will of the peoples..."

"The Struggle is Just Beginning"

Let us also report on the speech made by the other DEM co-chair, Tuncer Bakırhan, at the Mersin congress over the weekend. Regarding the law expected to come to Parliament, he said:

- "One should not underestimate this law. This law is a law that will ensure the Kurdish question moves to a political and legal ground by eliminating 50 years of pain, blood, conflict, and violence. We are in a process that will ensure the solution of the Kurdish question through dialogue and negotiation, taking it away from the ground of violence."

- "This law will be a beginning. This law will open a door. For our language, for our identity... it will open a door... This law is not everything, but it is a very important stage, a very important door. If we can properly support this process initiated by the Kurdish people's leader Mr. Öcalan, there is no place we cannot reach in a democratic sense."

- "The struggle is just beginning. Rest assured that you, who brought us to these days, who sent us to that parliament, who made Hoşyar and Nuriye co-mayors, will neither be deceived, nor defeated, nor will you give up your rights, your law, your identity, and your language... Rest assured, one day you will also liberate your language. You will also establish your local democracy. By changing these discriminatory, racist, and monist laws, you will live as equal citizens in a democratic republic. That is why the struggle is just beginning. We are still at the beginning of the road."

- "Do not say 'Will this law work?', 'What did we gain from this law?'... The mentality that said 'There is no Kurd' and denied the Kurd is now sitting at the table with the Kurd. Can there be a more important gain than this?"

A Matter of "Honor"

Let us underline that the "state mind" is not sitting at the table with the Kurds, but with the separatist terrorist organization that is a puppet of imperialism, which has not given up on Sèvres, and let us look at these actual words of Bakırhan.

While stating that they would fight so that "pain is not experienced again," he said, "We will defend the honor of Amed and the honor of Edirne together. We will say 'The pain of Siirt and the pain of Trabzon are both valuable' and we will respect both." Meanwhile, he also emphasized that DEM is "waging an honorable struggle 24/7 so as not to bring disgrace to the honor of its people."

Look at the situation; it turns out they had even divided the honor of Diyarbakır and the honor of Edirne, the pain of Siirt and the pain of Trabzon, and now they are graciously going to equalize them!..

Of course, after the main actor of the process in Parliament, Speaker of the Grand National Assembly Numan Kurtulmuş, divided the Turkish Nation in two with a "golden ratio" like "the honor of the Kurd, the pride of the Turk," what wouldn't these men say?!

If There is "No Concession," What are the "Comrades" Saying?

After the AKP MYK meeting held under Erdoğan's chairmanship the other day, Spokesperson Ömer Çelik also announced that they had reached the "fine-tuning stage" regarding a "Turkey without terrorism" with a "framework law," that "the issue has begun anew in another dimension," and that "no matter what, they will keep this issue on the highway," adding, "There is no concession given from either the characteristics of the state or the values of the nation."

If there is "no concession," why do the DEM members with whom they "walk this path together" and the terrorist leader in İmralı consider the law in question to be "the beginning of opening a door"?

Ömer Çelik also made an observation like, "It should be kept in mind that our first names may be different, but our surname is the Republic of Turkey." Well, where is the "Turkish Nation" placed in this equation?!

Even If Nothing Happened, These Things Happened

What has been said so far about the law expected to emerge from Parliament is that it covers terrorists who have not been involved in acts, and that it will be enacted for a one-time basis and for a certain period...

Okan Müderrisoğlu, Ankara Representative of the government's newspaper Sabah, recalled yesterday that "Return Home or Reintegration into Society Laws" were enacted in the past, provided they were for a limited time; that while the founders and high-level executives of the terrorist organization were kept out of the scope, no punishment was given to those who did not participate in any act and surrendered voluntarily, that the sentences of those who participated in acts but showed remorse and provided critical information were reduced by two-thirds, that convicts/detainees who were in prison on the date the law was enacted also benefited from sentence reductions, and that aid was provided to those returning to the country to help them adapt to society and vocational training courses were organized, but noted that in none of them "was the stage of the dissolution of the organization and laying down arms reached."

It is obvious how far the separatist terrorist organization has come to the "stage of dissolution and laying down arms" in return for this law. Furthermore, they are already saying, "We do not want a remorse law. We have not done anything to be remorseful for."

Let us assume that, despite all the rhetoric of the terrorist leader, Qandil, and DEM, no other step will be taken other than this law.

Is it a small thing that the terrorist leader is declared a "founding leader," that he is given the status of "peace process and politicization coordinator," that an illegal commission is established in the Grand National Assembly, that deputies are sent to the feet of the terrorist leader, that the law to be enacted is submitted for his approval, that this is considered a "Turkey without terrorism" according to the government and the "legal ground for the solution of the Kurdish question" according to DEM-PKK, and that while the nation has so many problems, the Veteran Parliament works overtime just for the PKK law?!
