The “Peace” intoxication!..

Nuray Babacan, a journalist well-versed in AKP inner circles, reflected on the atmosphere of the 'opening' process within the party about two months ago. She noted that there was dissatisfaction with the fact that “DEM members are constantly trying to involve MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli as an intermediary,” and recorded that “Bahçeli’s retreat from many of the high-stakes points he announced at the beginning of the opening process was achieved thanks to this stance.”

Whether that is the case or not; let us look at what has happened in the last four days.

On Thursday, at the opening ceremony of the new legislative year of the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM), even though the DEM members did not join in the National Anthem, Bahçeli chatted with Imralı postmen Pervin Buldan and Mithat Sancar at the evening reception, and referring to Imralı, he asked, “Are you having your travels? Are you going back and forth?”

Upon Buldan’s reply, “We went on September 13th, the last time. A month hasn't passed yet, but I suppose we will go after a month is up,” he smiled and said:

“Mashallah. Give them my regards, will you?”

In other words, he sent regards in front of the cameras to the terrorist leader who is responsible for the deaths of 40 thousand of our people and who is still sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment according to our laws. I suppose the terrorist leader heard this greeting on TV without needing Buldan to convey it!..

DEM co-chair Tuncer Bakırhan made the following comment regarding this greeting from Bahçeli:

“Mr. Öcalan’s democratic republic paradigm and our democratic republic movement ideology are actually not far from each other. One must also read Mr. Bahçeli’s change correctly. That is to say, the point he has reached is important. Therefore, it is not a very strange situation for him to send regards to Mr. Öcalan. The Imralı Delegation needs to constantly go to meet with Öcalan. Mr. Öcalan is the issue itself, he is the one who started the issue.”

It may seem that way from the DEM side; but it is certain that 90 percent of the nation finds this greeting beyond strange!..

THE TERRORIST LEADER’S LONDON MESSAGE

Let us move from the greetings to the substance of the matter.

While some in Ankara are preparing to almost break into a celebratory dance, saying “Peace has come, it is coming... The PKK has laid down its arms, it is about to,” the terrorist leader whom Bahçeli greeted had sent a message just a week ago to the “Peace and Democratic Integration Conference” held in London, stating: “The silencing of weapons is a beginning. What is permanent is the construction of a democratic society,” and declared that “constitutional and legal regulations must be made for the process to become permanent.” He fleshed this out as follows:

- Recognition of a democratic society...

- Free development of language and culture...

- Guaranteeing constitutional citizenship and free citizenship...

- Expansion of the authority of local governments...

- Paving the way for “people who have carried out armed struggle,” that is, terrorists, to return to political and civil life...

He also emphasized the following:

“The PKK has proven the Kurdish existence and broken the chain of denial... Dissolution is not an end or a surrender, but a transition to a new stage of history... On the threshold of a new era, the essential thing is not to destroy the state, but to build a free society.”

THE FIRST RESULTS OF THE GREETING

Even though the AKP is not pleased that “DEM members are constantly trying to involve Bahçeli as an intermediary,” a new traffic has begun after the greeting conversation at the Parliament reception, whether it is related or not.

Although it was Saturday, Pervin Buldan and Mithat Sancar first met with Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, and then with Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş.

Cevdet Yılmaz’s specialty is this: he is the head of the “National Solidarity and Integration Coordination Board” established regarding the PKK. As for Kurtulmuş, he is, as is known, the leader of the opening process in Parliament.

As is known, Bahçeli insists on wanting a status for the terrorist leader. The place to clarify this is the board chaired by Cevdet Yılmaz and the four sub-committees attached to it. The Palace’s spokesperson for the opening, Presidential Legal Policies Board Chairman Mehmet Uçum, announced that the terrorist leader would serve on the “disarmament and strategic coordination sub-committee,” but the PKK-DEM did not like this and wanted the terrorist leader to be directly the “coordinator of the peace and democratic society process” on the board.

In our article five days ago, we commented: “It seems that the negotiations regarding the ‘duty and status’ of the terrorist leader are continuing... Let’s see whose word will prevail; the Palace’s spokesperson Mehmet Uçum’s or the MHP-DEM-PKK’s?!”

I guess we were not wrong. Because it was announced that the DEM side, Pervin Buldan and Mithat Sancar, “received information about the two meetings held by the Board and the functioning of the four sub-boards, and conveyed their views and suggestions” during the meeting on Saturday with Cevdet Yılmaz.

It was also reported that with Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş, “consultations were held regarding the legal regulations to be made in the new legislative period after the framework law and the monitoring board to be established,” and again, DEM’s “views and suggestions were conveyed.”

Replace DEM’s “views and suggestions” with “Imralı’s demands”; we have already conveyed above which “constitutional and legal regulations” it has ordered!..

“COORDINATORSHIP” SEEMS SET

While there was no sound from Cevdet Yılmaz and Numan Kurtulmuş, Pervin Buldan, who met with them, made statements yesterday regarding the next stage of the process.

What did she say?

The terrorist leader said, “we are at a critical stage of the process,” and therefore, in the coming period, “a stage will be entered where negotiations will be held and steps will be taken regarding the political part of the 100-year-old issue, not the armed part”...

It is planned that the terrorist leader will undertake the “coordination” task in both disarmament and the progress of the political and democratic process...

For this, “since it is an inevitable necessity to ensure the coordination of the board, to meet with different segments of society, and to provide free working and communication conditions”; we will witness a concrete development on this issue in the coming days...

The year is 2013; that is, the first opening process... While Semih Yalçın, who is still Bahçeli’s deputy, was reacting to Erdoğan’s words about the MHP, he said the following:

“Unfortunately, the AKP government, whose helm is in the hands of Tayyip Erdoğan, has now gone off the path that will lead our country and our people to salvation. This government’s brakes have failed, and it has plunged full throttle into the Imralı separation process. Tayyip Erdoğan, who has become excessively intoxicated with peace; is taking Turkey towards the Kandil direction, towards the abyss of federation.”

Looking at the point reached; if one says “mashallah” not once but 41 times, it is appropriate!..
