Treating the Turkish Nation Like “Fools”!..

For days, we have been discussing how Zekeriye Yapıcıoğlu, Chairman of HÜDA-PAR and a partner in the People's Alliance, has been treating the Turkish Nation like “fools.”

What is it about? They claim they want to change not the first three articles of the Constitution, but the fourth—the article that stipulates the first three articles “cannot be changed and their amendment cannot be proposed.”

While explaining this, he spoke as follows, supposedly targeting only the CHP and its members:

“I said it one by one as if explaining it to a fool, yet they insist on not understanding... It is not the first 4 articles, it is the 4th article, okay?”

That is where the “fool” debate originated.

He Is Allegedly Targeting Mitsotakis, Not Turkey

Let us leave Yapıcıoğlu and those holding hands with him to their own fate and explain how the Turkish Nation is being treated like “fools” in our foreign policy.

This past September 13 was the 81st anniversary of the liberation of the island of Kastellorizo (Meis), located 2 kilometers from the Turkish coast, from Italian occupation. Greek Defense Minister Nikos Dendias took soldiers to his left and right and engaged in anti-Turkish sentiment once again.

Prior to this, on the anniversary of the second phase of our Cyprus Peace Operation, which the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) launched on August 14, 1974, under the code name “Operation Attila,” Dendias shared a post stating, “50 years have passed since the second phase of the Attila occupation. We stand with the Republic of Cyprus.” On the anniversary of the September 6-7 events, he spoke of “Constantinople Hellenism.”

Let us return to Dendias's delusions on the island of Kastellorizo; the reaction did not come from the State, but from the AKP. AKP Spokesperson Ömer Çelik stated after his party's Central Executive Board (MYK) meeting that developments in Greece were being monitored and that a new door for dialogue had opened following the meeting between Erdoğan and Greek Prime Minister Mitsotakis, and made the following assessment regarding Dendias:

“This statement by Dendias is a statement that does not want dialogue in any way, targets Turkey, and tries to sabotage all dialogue processes, but here, contrary to Mitsotakis's approach of 'let's lower the tension, let's continue normalization and dialogue' towards Turkey, it actually does not target Turkey; it targets Mitsotakis's premiership and the will he has set. Because it is impossible for Dendias's words to reach us without drowning in the waters of the Aegean Sea in any way. Only people like Dendias say Dendias's words, and only they listen to them; they mean nothing to us. While his own prime minister has other expressions, he is saying something against his own prime minister through Turkey. Expressing this through Turkey is now a problem for the Greek government.”

Wow, wow, wow; so Mitsotakis is good, and Dendias is bad... He is saying those words not to us, but to his own Prime Minister!..

You will remember; they displayed the same attitude on the 50th anniversary of our Cyprus Peace Operation. When Dendias went to the Greek Cypriot side and declared Turkey an “occupier,” everyone from the Ministry of National Defense to the pro-government media spewed fire at Dendias, and Erdoğan stated that he had told Mitsotakis, “I suppose you won't attack us from there like Dendias,” and that Mitsotakis had said he “did not think of such a thing,” noting that Mitsotakis should “teach this minister of his a lesson.”

It was not just the government wing; even CHP Chairman Özgür Özel had suggested, “If I were in Mr. Erdoğan's place, I would say to my counterparts in Greece, 'If you are truly sincere, you need to control this man a little bit.'”

The result? On that anniversary, we saw that everyone from President Katerina Sakellaropoulou to Mitsotakis, and from Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis—who is presented to the Turkish Nation as a “peace dove”—to the leader of the main opposition party SYRIZA, was engaging in worse anti-Turkish sentiment than Dendias.

Mitsotakis Is So Good (!) That

Since our side knows Mitsotakis so well (!), let us give a few examples of his recent rhetoric.

At the Thessaloniki International Fair on September 8, he emphasized that Turkey's “Blue Homeland” policy has led relations between the two countries into a deadlock.

On September 11, in his meeting with Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer, he said that Greece had erected a deterrent barrier on the Turkish border and that this protected not only the Greek border but also the European border.

In a radio program on September 12, he stated that “although they see normalization at various levels, there is no change in the essence of Turkish revisionism,” and said, “The stronger Greece is in terms of defense, the more securely it will sit at the negotiating table.”

Aside from these, let us underline the following:

Did Dendias make the decision about a month ago to expand/enlarge the ports of 17 strategically important islands, which are prohibited from being armed or opened for settlement according to the Treaty of Lausanne?

Or did Dendias secretly carry out the “recapture” exercise of the Eastern Aegean islands, conducted by the Special Forces of 11 countries consisting of NATO allies and partners between September 2 and 14?

Let us not prolong it; there is not a millimeter of change in the anti-Turkey Greek State policy that Mitsotakis voiced at the White House and the US Senate in May 2022, and to which Erdoğan reacted with the words, “There is no one named Mitsotakis for me anymore. I never accept meeting with him.”

When this is the reality, is saying that “Dendias is targeting Mitsotakis, not Turkey, and that this is a problem for the Greek government” not mocking our intelligence and deceiving both themselves and the nation?

Look, finally, what kind of post Dendias made on September 14 on the occasion of the Greeks being driven into the sea. He said; “Today is the day of remembrance for the genocide committed by the Turkish state against the Greeks in Asia Minor, determined by the unanimous decision of the Greek Parliament on April 24, 1998. Despite hundreds of victims and hardships, Asia Minor Hellenism managed to recover from the catastrophe and make the greatest contribution to the development of Greece.”

Since they believe in and trust Mitsotakis so much and are so sincere; go ahead, let them ask him to dismiss Dendias!..

Or let them ensure he cancels this genocide slander!..
