Trump’s chicken and his goose!..

While Erdoğan has claimed twice in one week that the CHP is “not displaying a domestic and national stance,” he has also called for the country to “get rid of foreign powers.”

We have the NATO Summit ahead of us, where our country's foreign policy will be firmly anchored and the fate of our region will be determined; so, let’s summarize their relationship with Trump.

When his closest friend and businessman Tom Barrack was appointed as Ambassador to Ankara and special representative to Syria, it was emphasized that they “expect him to do extraordinary work”...

It was announced that Trump told Erdoğan, “We trust you in the region... We will work with you on our regional policies.”

Explaining what is meant by “working together on regional policies,” colonial governor Barrack stated that the PKK/YPG, disguised as the SDF, is an “important ally” for Washington; he spoke of a new dialogue process between Turkey, the Gulf, Syria, and Israel, describing it as “getting rid of the Shiite crescent”...

TRUMP LIKES NOT ONLY ERDOĞAN BUT ALSO THE TSK

Let us recall Trump’s personal praise for Erdoğan.

For example, while answering a question about NATO countries, he said:

“Erdoğan is my friend. Whenever they have a problem with Erdoğan, they want me to call him because they can't talk to him. He is a very tough guy. Actually, I like him a lot. Actually, you know, he built a strong country, a strong army. But they have a hard time dealing with him and they want me to call him. And I call him and I always find a way to solve it with him. You know, he and I handle everything very quickly.”

In another statement, while again noting that Erdoğan is a very smart and very strong man, he answered a question about what would happen to US troops in Syria by saying, “There must be another way to do this. One of them is Turkey,” and continued as follows:

“Turkey is an important power. Erdoğan is someone I get along with well. He has a great military power. And that power has not been worn out in wars. He has built a very strong and effective army.”

His answer to the question, “Erdoğan continues to threaten Israel. Do you think there is a possibility of a conflict between Israel and Turkey?” is well-known. After repeating that he likes Erdoğan very much, he said:

“I haven't heard anything like that. If I had, I would call him and make sure everything was okay. I don't think something like that will happen with Turkey; at least not while I am president. Because he respects me, and I respect him. Beyond that, we have a good friendship.”

Finally, Trump said, “Erdoğan said ‘come,’ so I am going. I will attend the NATO summit out of respect for Erdoğan. If it weren't for him, maybe I wouldn't go to the summit.” While giving the good news (!) that he would attend the NATO Summit that our side is eagerly awaiting and that he would go to Turkey with a “gift bag,” he noted the following:

“He is a NATO member. People don't know how great a power Turkey is militarily. It has a very strong army. It has almost as much defense equipment as the US... He is a friend of mine and he stayed out of the war. You know, he was one of the strongest candidates who could have been involved in the war with Iran. He might even have sided with Iran. Because as you know, he is not a big fan of Israel. And I asked him to stay out of the war. And he did... Erdoğan is a somewhat controversial figure, but so am I. But I know him. I think he is a very good person, he has helped us a lot...”

NATO Secretary General Rutte, who was sitting right next to him, also emphasized that Trump’s actions were very important while Iran was very close to acquiring nuclear capabilities, and then said, “The Erdoğan-Trump meeting is very critical. Erdoğan will host us well.”

Days before Trump, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan had also made the statement, “If it weren't for our President, if it weren't for Turkey, Trump wouldn't be coming... Very important issues await us. The Ankara Summit presents a great opportunity in terms of these issues.”

Look at the situation; the great Republic of Turkey, the 86 million Turkish people do not exist, only Erdoğan exists. Just like how Germany once viewed Turkey as “Enverland,” based on Enver Pasha!.. Fortunately, Türkgün, the newspaper of the MHP, a partner of the People's Alliance, presented those words of Fidan as, “If it weren't for Turkey, Trump would not have come to the NATO Summit.”

What we really want to draw attention to in all this praise from Trump is this:

Could this affection that Trump, who stopped our strong army from conducting operations against terrorists in Syria with threats of “Don't be a fool, be smart. I will ruin your economy,” now feels for the TSK be a good sign?

CARROTS IN THE BAG, STICKS BEHIND

Let’s look at what is in Trump’s “gift bag.”

The Halkbank case was dropped... A package of approximately 700 million dollars regarding the sale of engines for the fifth-generation fighter jet KAAN, which is stated to be “domestic and national” and for which a sales agreement for 48 units was even made with Indonesia, was notified to the US Congress... As for the F-35s, for which they took the money and sat on them, Trump passed the ball to his deputy, Vance. He also dodged the issue by saying, “This is actually largely a matter for Congress, and it needs to be confirmed that Turkey is acting in accordance with American laws to be able to purchase the F-35s.”

So, what sticks are behind Trump, who loves Erdoğan so much?

The US signed a memorandum with Greece, the Greek Cypriot Administration, and Israel to establish the “Eastern Mediterranean Energy Center” to “combat malicious actors in the region” and to unilaterally manage, protect, and commercialize energy resources in the region. In other words, Turkey was excluded. The “bad actors” are Russia, Iran, and China.

Anything else? The UN Secretary-General’s special representative, Maria Holguin, who took action to start a new negotiation process in Cyprus, presented a solution framework that would make the Greek side a NATO member, thereby ensuring the end of the Guarantee Agreements and the withdrawal of Turkish troops from the Island, and Ankara didn't even make a peep.

Anything else? Two Democratic and Republican members in the House of Representatives submitted a bill to Congress to have policies regarding Turkey within the US State Department handled not by the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs, but by the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs, meaning we are to be considered a Middle Eastern country.

WE ENTERED WITH KOREA... WE WILL SIT AT THE “CENTER” WITH IRAN

If we come to the NATO Summit on July 7-8, which both our side and our so-called allies care about very much; they are making peace with the PKK, Syria has been handled, according to Trump there is no possibility of us fighting Israel anyway, and even while being close friends with Putin, the following happened:

It was decided to establish a Multinational Corps Headquarters in Turkey and a NATO Maritime Component Command in the Bosphorus within the scope of NATO’s Southeast Regional Plan... Following the US-Israel attack on Iran, Incirlik and Konya were equipped with Patriot and SAMP/T missile defense systems...

We learned the meaning and importance of the NATO Summit with these preparations through the statements made by Defense Minister Yaşar Güler after the NATO Defense Ministers meeting he attended in Brussels 10 days ago. In summary, Güler said;

“We do not see the NATO Summit that we will hold in Ankara as just a leaders' meeting. We evaluate that this summit will be an important turning point where NATO will demonstrate its determination to adapt to the changing security environment and where its strategic orientation for the future will be shaped... Our expectation from the Ankara Summit is, first and foremost, the strong reaffirmation of the collective defense understanding that forms the foundation of NATO and the commitment to Article 5... Our heroic army is among the most effective and prepared forces of NATO with the experience it has gained in a wide area from counter-terrorism to cross-border operations. In this context, we continue to increase the capacity of our commando units and develop new capabilities suitable for the changing threat environment... Terrorism, irregular migration, energy security risks, regional conflicts, and hybrid threats directly affect NATO’s southern flank... Stability in the Middle East is also directly linked to NATO’s security. Our NATO allies are also quite interested in and working on developments in the Middle East... Today, there is a very clear fact: Turkey is a country that is not on the periphery of the security architecture, but at its center. As the future of NATO is shaped, Turkey is one of the main allies that does not watch developments from afar, but contributes to decision-making, assumes responsibility, and produces security. Turkey’s signature, which directs the future of the Alliance with its strong army, strategic vision, and the duties it has undertaken, will continue to take its place in NATO’s tomorrows in a strong and decisive manner.”

So our NATO allies are “quite interested in and working on developments in the Middle East”!.. Did they speak out against Israel’s genocides in Palestine? On the contrary, while the then-Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said, “Israel is not alone,” the current Secretary General Rutte admitted that they were part of the attack on Iran.

This very Rutte, regarding the NATO Summit in Ankara, said, “I think it is really very important. Maybe even more important than the Hague Summit, because the commitments made are wonderful,” while saying that Iran, as well as Russia, China, and North Korea, were “one of the important topics on their agenda.”

That’s fine, but the Iran issue has been on NATO’s agenda not just today, but for decades. To summarize; in 2005, it was decided that NATO’s new mission would be “fighting Jihadism and Islamist terrorism,” and that the “new Berlin wall” would be the “Middle East,” and plans were prepared to bring Israel closer to NATO and the EU... In the projection prepared by the CIA for the 21st century, a “war between the Sunni full moon and the Shiite crescent” was foreseen... During the period of Condoleezza Rice, who announced the Greater Middle East Project (BOP), it was emphasized that Turkey, which is a neighbor to Iraq, Iran, and Syria, is “critically important for the US’s interests in the Greater Middle East,” and also that “the strategic alliance between the US and Turkey regarding Iran is solid”...

And what a coincidence; with the contributions of the AKP government, a lot of work was done in Iraq, Syria, and Libya... Also under the AKP government, Israel’s OECD membership was approved in 2010, and in 2016, it was accepted to open a representative office at NATO.

Let us also recall this with thick lines:

On the first anniversary of the Palestine-Israel war that began on October 7, 2023, EU Commission President Von der Leyen, who organized a moment of silence for Israel, announced that they would not hold a moment of silence for those killed in Gaza on the grounds that they were “Muslim,” while her deputy, Margaritis Schinas, made the following call to Turkey word for word:

“Turkey must choose its side. Will it be on the side of the EU, NATO, and their values? Or will they support Russia, Iran, Hamas, and Hezbollah? They should decide which side of history they want to be on. They must have a clear answer on this.”

In short; it is expected that something will be included in the NATO Summit’s final declaration “to protect Turkey, the strongest representative of the southern flank, from terrorism and the Iranian threat.”

However, while we are going through days when one might say “you don't spare the chicken where the goose will come from,” it is as clear as day that the planned one-on-one Erdoğan-Trump meeting, not the summit’s final declaration, will be much more important!..
