What is this 'Great Refugee Wave' that Greece knows about but we don't?

Erdoğan held a press conference at Atatürk Airport before departing for New York, USA, for the UN meeting.

The date was September 21.

Erdoğan spoke about the genocide Israel is committing in Gaza, its transformation of the area into Nazi extermination camps, and its subsequent attack on Lebanon, stating that the entire world, especially the UN, has important duties to ensure a permanent ceasefire and the unhindered flow of humanitarian aid.

Emphasizing that the region is currently facing an inexplicably massive crisis, he noted the following:

“We will discuss stopping the bloodshed in Palestinian territories, primarily Gaza, with all the leaders we will meet at the UN. We will evaluate what is happening in all conflict zones, including Palestine, and what needs to be done. Because people—children, women, the elderly... are dying. The figure has now exceeded 45 thousand. This is not a development that can be swallowed or accepted. Hopefully, as Turkey, just as we have waged this struggle until today, we will strive to see what we as Turkey can do against this storm of death that world Zionism is currently whipping up in the Middle East. I, along with my colleagues and all our ministers, will address the efforts for this, and we will do whatever is in our power.”

And he added, “Humanity does not have a single day left to lose.”

We watched; Erdoğan rained down, stormed, and thundered at the UN General Assembly... He brought this issue to the agenda in all his meetings... But even though 7 days have passed, nothing has changed. In other words, we spoke to ourselves and listened to ourselves again!..

We saw the first implementation of Erdoğan's words, “We will strive to see what we as Turkey can do against the storm of death whipped up in the Middle East, and we will do whatever is in our power,” yesterday. Sources from the Ministry of National Defense stated that the TAF possesses the means and capabilities to carry out the safe evacuation of Turkish or foreign citizens in Lebanon and has successfully conducted many evacuation operations before, announcing that “developments in Lebanon are being closely monitored in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,” and that “pre-planning and preliminary preparations are being made within the scope of a possible evacuation operation.”

FROM MALAZGIRT AND ÇANAKKALE TO GAZA?

Erdoğan met with many leaders at the UN Summit. One of them was Greek Prime Minister Mitsotakis, whom he hosted at the Turkish House. Before drawing attention to an important detail regarding that meeting, I want to open a parenthesis and mention a conference held at the ITU House in Ankara on the day Erdoğan departed for the USA.

The speaker was Prof. Dr. Tolga Yarman, who has been giving lectures and conferences on star wars, nuclear weapons, disarmament, the global energy market, advanced technology, and the defense industry at the General Staff War Academies Command since 1985, but who, strangely enough, has not been invited to lectures or conferences since the 2016 coup attempt. Prof. Yarman, currently a faculty member at Istanbul Okan University, addressed many topics in his conference titled “Our Region and Turkey in the Clutches of Imperial Strategies,” ranging from Syria and refugees to the YPG/PKK; from the Greater Middle East Project (BOP) and the islands occupied by Greece to Gaza and the Zionist attack; and from the 'Nas' (religious decree) disaster in the economy to the destruction of our agriculture and livestock.

His opening remarks were striking. While arguing that our history, including Ottoman history, has been distorted and that Turkey is being Arabized and transformed into an “Umayyad-style Sunnocratic” structure, he first criticized Erdoğan's words on the anniversary of the Battle of Malazgirt: “Malazgirt is the victory of all Muslims along with the Turks. Kurds, Arabs, and Muslims from other nations who were honored with Islam fought shoulder to shoulder against the enemy in Alparslan's army, and their blessed blood mingled on these very lands.”

“Until this age, we have not heard a discourse like this new discourse of the President. There is no document in existence that contradicts what we know. The President is not speaking based on a specific document. Or he is not citing his document. Therefore, it is clear that the President is under suggestion.”

Continuing, he made the following assessments regarding the instruction to teach the “From Çanakkale to Gaza, the spirit of independence and homeland defense” lesson on the first day of school:

“Has anyone here heard of such a composition until today? This composition does not stem from our education, nor from His education or contemplation... Where did it come from then, this composition? This must be a ‘suggestion’ in itself. The Gaza issue is a humanitarian tragedy, that is separate; however, during the Çanakkale Wars, the Ottoman Army was also fighting in Palestine. In fact, Mustafa Kemal Pasha also fought on the Palestine Front as the 7th Army Commander after the Battle of Çapakçur (Bingöl) (1916), yes. However, he sees the ‘dead end’ and reports it to the German Commander Falkenhayn and Istanbul. When he fails to explain it, he resigns from the 7th Army Command on October 2, 1917, and returns to Istanbul. That was the return. Gaza is not included in the founding philosophy of the Republic, that is, within the Misak-ı Milli (National Pact) borders. Then where does the Gaza focus come from? It is clear that it is a ‘strong suggestion’!.. It is so much so that while Israel was attacking Gaza, we were continuing, and still are, our trade with this country, including critical goods. In fact, the American warship named USS Wasp visited the Port of Izmir between September 1-5. Before that, we learned from the foreign press that the Turkish Navy conducted a joint exercise with the USS Wasp in the Eastern Mediterranean. In other words, for now, there is open hostility toward the USA and Israel, while behind closed doors, there is deep strategic cooperation.”

Ultimately, he painted a terrifying picture:

“The person on the street is not shown much. However, in this situation, if they completely destroy Gaza, detach it from Palestine, connect it to Israel, and say to us, ‘You will take one million Gazans!’, let us not be surprised. Why would ‘Killer Sisi’ suddenly become ‘my brother Sisi’?!”

CNN: "THEY ARE MOVING TOWARD TURKEY"

After this parenthesis, let us come to the Erdoğan-Mitsotakis meeting, or rather, the interview Mitsotakis gave to CNN after the meeting.

Our media also summarized the interview in question; but by virtually censoring a question from CNN's famous journalist Christiane Amanpour and Mitsotakis's answer.

Christiane Amanpour asked Mitsotakis exactly this question:

“One of the details you are particularly concerned about is the new war in the Middle East, and this is causing another massive refugee wave. I think they are moving toward the Mediterranean, they are moving toward Turkey. Because of all this, you met with President Erdoğan regarding the challenges you are currently facing. Can you tell us what you talked about and how you will solve this?”

After touching upon the progress in Turkish-Greek relations, Mitsotakis used expressions like these between the lines of his evasive answers to both this question and Amanpour's other questions:

“We can work together on issues like migration. We have made progress in addressing this problem... [Regarding Greece building a wall on the Turkish border] We need a big fence and a big gate. It is important for the European Union to protect its external borders. At the same time, creating legal migration routes and doing this in an organized and disciplined manner is important for both humanitarian and economic reasons. For example, Greece was the only country that accepted hundreds of women from Afghanistan when it was on the verge of collapse after the US suddenly left. We also have humanitarian sensitivities. But at the same time, we want to send a message to countries like Egypt, for example, that we can welcome workers in Greece. They can come and stay. They can come legally, safely, and they do not have to embark on a dangerous journey across the Aegean to reach Greece. I believe this should be the foundation of a modern migration policy on behalf of the European Union. The solution is not to unilaterally bypass Schengen rules. We have an agreement on Migration and Asylum. No one is entirely happy with it, but that is the nature of European compromise. And we must implement it.”

IT WAS DENIED LAST YEAR

It will be remembered that last November, it was claimed that US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who met with Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, said they had agreed on the evacuation of Gazans and that “Gazans will be settled in Turkey,” while the Presidential Communications Directorate denied this claim, stating that such a topic was never on the agenda and that Blinken made no such statement.

Now, from the question CNN directed to Mitsotakis, it is understood that at least regarding a possible “massive migration wave” in the Middle East, and especially again toward Turkey, something is being cooked in the kitchen or the pulse is being felt.

Then let us ask from here: Was a “solution” path discussed with Mitsotakis and other leaders regarding this issue and, for example, the inclusion of Gaza and the Middle East in the scope of the migration agreement made with the EU?
