MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli has declared the terrorist leader in İmralı a "founding leader"... He granted him a status akin to "peace process politicization coordinator." Finally, he announced the good news (!) that a 250-square-meter residence, which is not a "villa," has been built for the terrorist leader on İmralı; however, he explained that the terrorist leader has refused to move into this residence because his "status" has not yet been recognized, meaning the terrorist leader is officially defying the state.
According to Bahçeli, what will the terrorist leader use this residence, which is not a "villa," for? He will carry out his work, meet with journalists, and convey his messages!..
This was also confirmed by Pervin Buldan, whom the terrorist leader once compared to the Egyptian Queen Nefertiti. Buldan stated that the new residence was "prepared for the terrorist leader to carry out his work and meetings under more suitable conditions during the disarmament and politicization process," and that he needed a working team to use this structure, which is why the move has not yet taken place.
You would think he is a "leader in exile," not a terrorist leader sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment with the approval of Turkish law and the ECHR!..
Bahçeli's justification regarding the allocation of the residence is also interesting: "He has been in prison for 26 years... He is getting on in age... It is important that he dissolves the organization during this process... His statement in 2025 is no different from his statement in February 2026, and it is valuable that he is behind this process in terms of the organization's disappearance."
According to the rhetoric of the government and Bahçeli, hadn't the terrorist organization already begun to dissolve itself and lay down its arms?
If so, what other work will the terrorist leader be carrying out? Is he going to go out and show the locations of the weapons and collect them?..
Or who will he meet with and what messages will he give? Hasn't he been talking for decades and explaining what he wants? Haven't the İmralı messengers and those in Qandil announced these through the media? Furthermore, didn't he give lectures to the members of parliament sent to him? So much so that even Feti Yıldız, who went from the MHP, told the terrorist leader, "they would not talk at length about Turkey's political history, that they knew his life and the political phases he went through as the founder of the organization, that they understood the concepts of communal and liberal municipalism he has been working on lately, and that talking about the history of the organization is unnecessary for now," didn't he?
It means he will be up to other things. Like what? In the words of Pervin Buldan, he will carry out work for the "politicization of the PKK," and as Cengiz Çandar clarified, for making the PKK a "partner to the state"!..
WHAT PROGRESS HAS BEEN MADE IN 2 YEARS?
But Bahçeli has a completely different complaint; he stated that while the press should have taken a more active role in the "terror-free Turkey" process that has been ongoing for 2 years and explained the process to the citizens, they have been talking about Ekrem İmamoğlu first and now Mansur Yavaş, effectively conducting PR work, and he announced that he had those channels watched and counted how many times Mansur Yavaş's name was mentioned.
Since it is desired that the terrorist leader's PR be done, not Mansur Yavaş's, let's talk about that.
Erdoğan, on Veterans Day no less, said, "Despite all the provocations and all the traps in the 2 years we have left behind, we have covered significant distance... Also in this period, with the law accepted and enacted in our Veteran Parliament with a historic consensus of 467 votes, we have crossed another critical threshold."
Do you remember how Erdoğan reacted when the terrorist leader wanted a "council of wise men or a monitoring commission" to be established in Parliament during the first resolution process, while he now boasts about the passage of this law, which the terrorist leader, the PKK, and the DEM party consider the "root law, the first step"?
He said exactly this:
"By involving Parliament in the process, they want to raise the level of the PKK's interlocutorship and gain legitimacy. They are in an effort to gain legitimacy for the organization. But this legitimacy will not happen."
In short; this has been the most important "distance" covered in the 2-year process!..
"WE WILL NOT LAY DOWN ARMS UNTIL ÖCALAN IS FREE"
What about the dissolution of the PKK and the laying down of arms?
While AKP Deputy Chairman Efkan Ala stated that sub-committees have started their work in the field, that identification procedures regarding the disarmament process are continuing, and that a monitoring commission will be established in Parliament in the new legislative term, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated, "One would wish, of course, that everything would be faster. The organization declared that it dissolved itself and ended its armed struggle in May 2025... We are in September 2026. More than a year has passed. Concrete steps regarding the laying down of arms have not been taken so far."
So, what kind of message did the terrorist leader send with the DEM delegation that last visited İmralı on September 13?
He established a "peace and politicization" equation and commanded, "The equivalent of peace corresponds to laying down arms, and the equivalent of politicization corresponds to democratic politics and a democratic society."
In other words, he implied that "arms will not be laid down until politicization is achieved"!..
Cemil Bayık, the terrorist leader in Qandil, filled in the details of this as follows:
- "In the new phase, practical steps need to be taken in the political and legal fields... Journalists, advisors, some politicians, and academics need to go to İmralı. The KCK, and we ourselves, need to go to Apo's side. If this does not happen, the process will not progress healthily."
- "If Apo is not free, we will not lay down our arms and we will not go to Turkey. If we are to lay down our arms, we must have the right to conduct democratic political activities... There are no Kurds in Turkish law. If changes are not made, the oppression and attempts to destroy Kurds in every way will continue. If Turkey continues with this mentality, it will suffer harm."
- (Regarding the Syrian PKK) "Democratic integration does not mean handing everything over to the state. There must be autonomy for Kurdish regions."
- (Regarding the Iranian PKK) "The Iranian regime will collapse if it does not solve the Kurdish problem... If democratic integration does not occur and a war breaks out, one must be prepared."
"NON-ROUTINE METHODS" AND ÖZGÜR ÖZEL'S TRAJECTORY
Bahçeli announced the residence in İmralı, and Mehmet Uçum, the Chairman of the Presidential Legal Policies Board and Chief Advisor to Erdoğan, made it official that the terrorist leader would serve on the "disarmament sub-committee."
According to what Uçum said, the duty on the board is not a "legally official duty" or a "privilege," but "merely an opportunity provided to him so that he can do what is expected better"... "There is no aspect contrary to the law"... "Non-routine processes are managed with non-routine methods"...
Since this is the government's position and the impositions of the terrorist leader and his organization are as clear as day; who knows how many more "non-routine methods" we will see!..
While this is the situation, it is impossible not to mention the more than strange attitude of the New Party Chairman Özgür Özel.
Upon Bahçeli's residence announcement, he said, "What will provide social contribution to the process is not Öcalan getting a new residence, but Demirtaş getting to his home. That is, we are concerned with Demirtaş getting to his home, his wife, and his family in this debate. Whether a house was built for Öcalan on the island, whether he will go to the house; these are not on our agenda. The issue we need to be interested in is the steps toward democratization."
He also said the following the other day:
"We are bound by the signature we put, the vote we cast, and the speech we made. If the organization is laying down its arms and the state's various mechanisms have worked on the conditions for laying down arms, it is not for us to say 'no' to this. I am not in a position to say no to a regulation regarding a terrorist organization laying down its arms before history... We signed the entire report. I find it very dangerous to focus on these issues, just the sixth article, the article on laying down arms, and beyond that, what is Abdullah Öcalan's status, what is his comfort, what is his communication, in this respect. Social support is decreasing. Social oppositions are emerging. Scratching the nerve endings is a risk... 'Let's build a more comfortable life for Öcalan, we built a house for Öcalan on the Island.' These things are unnecessarily straining a society that is already uneasy. Whereas, we are now in a process of increasing social support. To do this, we need mutual gestures, not mutual tensions... I prioritize Demirtaş, Ms. Figen, and all political prisoners getting to their homes... instead of Abdullah Öcalan changing houses on the Island, getting a new house."
A private residence has been built for the terrorist leader... It has been announced that he will serve on a state board... But instead of asking where these are written in the law or commission report they gave a "yes" to, Özgür Özel is still implying, under the assumption that the PKK has "laid down its arms," that "these are straining society, let's not talk about them"!..
Judging by the trajectory, he will not raise his voice tomorrow or the day after when the other demands of the terrorist leader and the PKK members are met through "non-routine methods."
Oh, woe is me!..
