A distant election? The symbiotic life of two countries

Swimming or rowing against the current is not always negative. If you have to, at least you build muscle, and as soon as you find the opportunity, you can reach the shore and walk against the current to reach your goal.

Let's swim against the current: There is no reason to join the cheers of ordinary "democratic technocrats" who are eager to shower Turkey with blessings from the Europe of Germany. The election results in Berlin will not benefit anyone. And for those who are meticulous about a socialist line, there is no reason at all...

As is well known, we have been writing for a long time that Germany contains Turkey, and conversely, Turkey contains Germany, in very significant dimensions. A kind of symbiotic life: No event in Germany happens without its shadow falling on Turkey. Even if not with the same weight, the opposite is also true.

Berlin and Elif Eralp are important for this reason, and it is not a coincidence or an "isolated incident." It is a natural consequence of the 65 years of very intense relations between the two countries... According to official figures, more than 3 million, and according to some more reasonable sources, nearly 4.5 million people "associated with Turkey" live in Germany. Furthermore, after the Merkel-Erdoğan agreement, which prevented a wave of immigrants that would have collapsed Germany, Turkey's importance for Germany through other channels is obvious. If Turkey had opened the gates and millions of destitute refugees had arrived at the door, Germany would have become ungovernable. They use Turkey as a kind of "camp" and, of course, they pay the price in euros.

In the future, the background of these connections will be laid bare. Who fed whom, how, and who "benefited"—everything will become clear. There is a time for it...

Let us look at Berlin.

Elif Eralp, who emerged first from the ballot box in Berlin on behalf of The Left (Die Linke), which is no different from the "Ufuk Uras ÖDP," is important not in terms of leftism, but within the framework of the observation above. Turkey is now present in every fabric of Germany. This is normal. Moreover, for half a century, Turkey has been under the "custody" of Germany, especially a growing Germany, within the framework of Europe and NATO.

Provisional conclusion: Berlin is more important for Ankara than Washington, if viewed from a broad perspective...

What do we mean?

A COUNTRY THAT WILL GRADUALLY BECOME MORE RIGHT-WING

Again, and this: We have no reason to take Elif Eralp and her party, who emerged first in Sunday's election and are expected to take over the state premiership and mayoralty in Berlin, seriously in the name of politics and/or leftism... Fine. But of course, they are important from other perspectives.

German politics is officially shedding its skin. These skins also fall on Turkey.

We are talking about a country that will become more right-wing step by step. We see that the AfD (Alternative for Germany) is marching toward power step by step, replacing the country's founding party, the Christian Democratic Union-CDU (and its autonomous sister party in Bavaria, the Christian Social Union-CSU), by eroding them, and its path is clear. This AfD is a radical right-wing or radical Christian Democratic, conservative party. It is not without fascist, even Hitlerite channels within it. But it has a leadership that insists on defining itself as conservative. It is impossible for it to be racist, because racists are not brought to the administration of an imperialist country. Let alone people, capital, especially industrial capital, cannot allow this. However, a relative "Bio-German" condescension is possible. 

The AfD will erode the Christian Democrats or play for power with the remainder by retouching them; this is understood.

But this is not something that does not exist in politics: Hadn't Syriza become the government by gnawing at PASOK, and Ecevit's DSP at the CHP at one time? Europe has been the scene of these operations in recent years.

The Left Party seems to have made progress in Berlin by gnawing at the SPD.

It is understood that the AfD can retouch the CDU at this rate and with great speed.

That's how these things work.

But what is frightening is this: Germany is going through a dangerous and increasingly deepening crisis. And it has a very dangerous history, as is known. We know that in such times, it has caused a lot of trouble for Europe, and even more than that, for the world. It led to the destruction of millions of people. Therefore, one must give credit to those who watch what is happening with anxiety.

Let us add one thing: Germany burned the heads of the world's peoples by scraping, burying, and even destroying the left within itself, de-lefting the country. What about today?

Today, we cannot speak of an effective left or socialist political focus in this country. We must state that this "left social democratic" effort by Oskar Lafontaine and Sahra Wagenknecht, which resembles our "left Kemalists," cannot replace a socialist challenge.

Strange things are happening in the graveyard of the left, and these will sooner or later have a connection with Turkey.

Elif Eralp and the 10 "Germans of Turkish origin" who are stated to have entered the state parliament in Berlin should not surprise us. We must state that we have the right to object only to those who pretend to be leftists. Because they are not. Whatever comes out of their mouths, they are in no position to look beyond capitalism. 

An example? This democrat and her party, who think they can solve the rent problem of the poor in Berlin by buying housing from companies (which is said to be seizure in exchange for compensation and an expenditure that might reach 20 billion euros) and who came in first in the ballot box thanks to this, unfortunately have no chance.
