'Politics of particles': Our role as the region fractures

Let's look at Europe: Are we heading toward the 1930s? If we are on the eve of 1913-14, it is easy to say that “sliding into the 30s is a destiny.” After all, the interwar period in Europe was the legacy of the First Great War. However, the stage and actors of the new 30s will likely be very different from the old ones. The only common denominator is the ability to restrain large masses with certain ideologies and to atomize societies.

Let us proceed by looking at today.

Public opinion polls are yielding unpleasant results one after another for those in power. Are they truly unpleasant?

Not only in Turkey, but also in Germany and the Germany of Europe, the results are not good at all “for the ruling cliques.” At first glance, that is the case. Agreed. Just as Donald Trump is about to lose his footing, the situation of Friedrich Merz in Germany is similar. They are trying to dance on thin ice and establish a balance. Merz has been declared the most “base-less” chancellor in the country's history. The polls are clear. The coalition in Berlin could end at any moment.

What about Ankara?

The West must be watching the AKP government with great astonishment. It is struggling to make sense of it. Let us help: The government in Ankara, which still manages to keep a mass reaching 30 percent behind it despite a collapsed economy, terrible inflation, and a disintegrated society—perhaps precisely because of that—is certain that it will be held accountable the moment it leaves this seat. Let there be no misunderstanding; the “Reis supporters” have no fear of either the CHP or the DEM in this regard. They are certain of the management cadres of these two parties.

Another fear is likely on the agenda: The number and weight of those who think that the reins—that is, social control—are not in the hands of these two parties, and will not remain so, are significant in both ruling parties.

Why?

The crisis is taking on such deep and bleeding dimensions that an intra-system opposition, which cannot control the anger and new quests in the masses with “social projects” not much different from the AKP’s, does not inspire confidence in the government in this sense. In other words, the AKP knows that the top management of the current CHP and the DEM do not approach the urgent problems of Turkish society with any significant difference, other than personnel changes.

Some may not want to lose their ill-gotten gains to the CHP members. Understandable.

However, we are facing a much more intricate issue. The AKP’s ignorant but politically astute—that is, cunning—management is restless, like wild animals that sense the smell of fire and the sounds of an earthquake in advance.

Can we say it like that?

AN OPPOSITION PLAYING WITH A RED CARD

The current Islamist administration is certain that the top management of the CHP and DEM will take power from the AKP with sincere emotions, and that they will swallow tens of thousands of illegalities, as in the case of Ekrem İmamoğlu, just to sit in the seat of power. Looking at Özgür Özel and his team, who play with red cards, it carries no doubt on this matter. But the AKP-MHP alliance is pursuing a policy that constantly strengthens a wave coming/that will come from the depths, and it is precisely the uncontrollability of the destructive energy this will create that they fear. This is the fear that the masses will “go off the rails.”

Therefore, the Islamist government is in a state of mind ready to divide society and, if necessary, tear the country apart. Are the trillions of dollars in plunder, the summoning of billions of unknown/unquestionable sources to Turkey, and the grand theft being done only for the enrichment of a few families? They think, “If we sink, your money will sink too; if we step down from power, things will happen to you.” It is not just that...

Essentially, Turkey’s new and Islamist wealthy are calculating something else: They are preparing for a major conflict, in the broadest sense. That is why they are building things. They are preparing for times of chaos.

It is easier to see this when looking from the outside.

Our worldviews do not overlap. But let us reiterate that there are journalists who are much more aggressive and capable of taking risks than the Can Dündar type, along with Serdar Akinan and his new “twin.” Adding this: They are forced to repeat today what we have been writing and drawing for years. Turkey is a political unit that the world system will inevitably shrink; they have already broken its backbone by destroying the republic. Now it is time to break it into pieces. It has been many years since we personally used the title “Politics of Particles.” Now the intra-system opposition is talking about this too.

We wrote here before: A fracture on the Iran-Turkey line is the only way for the old and new masters of the world to keep the region under control. But the real key country on this line is Turkey. Public opinion polls show the opposition a few points ahead, but there is no opposition in sight that truly wants power. This strengthens the hand of the AKP government. Real (revolutionary) dissidents have been saying for years that there is no “one-man rule” or anything of the sort.

There are those who ask, “If there is no one-man rule in Turkey, how are we to explain all these things that are happening, this ocean of lawlessness?” However, what is important is not the lawlessness.

What is important is the poverty exploding among the broad masses.

The disaster in the Turkey column of tables such as inflation, unemployment, budget deficit, and current account deficit has nothing to do with law or anything like that. It is about the economy, or more precisely, the “free market economy.” That is capitalism. People are officially condemned to hunger. Because the system opposition (CHP-DEM and their vassals) does not want to see the great destructive energy at the very bottom, it frames the issue with legal violations and hangs it on the wall.

Let us remind you that a similar wave of impoverishment has begun to envelop the Germany of Europe. Adding that a darkness, reminiscent of the 1930s but with a much different intensity, has begun to trample over the old continent...
