According to a statement from the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (İKSV), the festival, which will be held from October 22 to November 19, will bring many productions from Turkey and around the world to theatre lovers.

The play Richard III, which remains faithful to Shakespeare's original text, can be seen at the Zorlu PSM Turkcell Stage on November 18-19. The work will be presented to the audience with impressive set design, elaborate costumes, and live music.

In the performance staged by Thomas Ostermeier and his company Schaubühne Berlin, Lars Eidinger, who plays Richard III, will bring comedy, tension, melancholy, and tragic loneliness to the stage.

'UTSUSHI' TO BRING A STORY FULL OF HOPE TO THE STAGE

Utsushi, one of the striking examples of Butoh dance—which emerged in Japan in the 1950s as a reaction to avant-garde dance movements imitating the West—can be seen at the Zorlu PSM Turkcell Stage on October 24-25.

In the performance, where 6 white figures dancing on stage present an impressive visual, a subtle story about humanity filled with happiness, sadness, pain, and hope will be told.

Ushio Amagatsu, founder of the Sankai Juku company and a member of the second generation of Butoh dancers, does not consider this dance merely a new technique or academic style, but rather treats it as a bodily form of expression on the path to achieving a common human emotion and universal peace.

The full festival program, curated by Mehmet Birkiye, will be announced in September.
