7 new films in theaters this week: A wide selection from drama to musical, horror to animation

7 films from different genres will meet audiences in theaters this week. The program highlights drama, political musical, superhero film, animation, and horror and thriller productions.

One of the week's notable productions, “Night and Day from Virginia Woolf”, brings together Haley Bennett, Elyas M'Barek, and Lily Allen in the lead roles. Directed by Tina Gharavi, the co-production between the USA, Germany, and the United Kingdom focuses on the story of a young woman caught between love, freedom, and the desire for self-realization.

“The Wave”, signed by Chilean director Sebastian Lelio, is released as a political musical. The US-Chile co-production centers on feminist student movements and allegations of systematic harassment that emerge at a university in Chile, depicting women's collective resistance against the culture of silence and male-dominated institutions.

The 2021 production “Spider-Man: No Way Home” will also be back on the big screen. Starring Tom Holland, Zendaya, and Benedict Cumberbatch, the Jon Watts film covers the events that unfold after Spider-Man, whose identity has been revealed, asks Doctor Strange for help.

In the animation genre, Pierre Coffin's “Minions and Monsters” will be released. The production tells the story of the Minions' Hollywood adventure, the chaos they encounter, and their reunion to save the planet.

HORROR AND THRILLER OPTIONS

Among the week's horror and thriller films is “Sleepwalker”, directed by Brandon Auman. The film deals with the process in which reality and nightmares intertwine for a woman who lost her daughter in a traffic accident and whose husband is in a coma, during her sleepwalking episodes.

“Autopsy”, signed by Jeremiah Kipp, brings to the screen the supernatural events experienced by a woman who graduated from the morgue science department in the morgue where she works. The week's local horror film “Curse of the Dead” focuses on the events that begin when a funeral, which could not be buried because it remained unclaimed in the morgue and is believed to be cursed, is taken over by its relatives.
