A journey through history begins with night museums
The night museum initiative, launched by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism last year, is opening its doors to visitors at 27 museums and archaeological sites this summer.
Historical sites across Turkey will be illuminated at night, offering visitors a unique experience. Extending from Istanbul to Adıyaman and from İzmir to Şanlıurfa, this practice provides an ideal opportunity for those who wish to explore cultural heritage during the cool night hours of the summer months.

Important landmarks such as the Hagia Sophia History and Experience Museum, Galata Tower, Ephesus Archaeological Site, Patara, Mount Nemrut, and Zelve-Paşabağları will host both history enthusiasts and night travelers. These venues, which gain a dramatic atmosphere through lighting, will whisper historical stories to their visitors amidst the silence.
Within the scope of night museology, museum visiting hours will vary. While the Istanbul Archaeology Museums and the Hagia Sophia History and Experience Museum will remain open until 22:00, the Galata Tower can be visited until 23:00. In Ankara, the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations and the Ethnography Museum will welcome visitors until 21:00.
In Antalya, locations such as the Antalya Museum, Alanya Museum, and Aspendos Archaeological Site will be open until 23:00. Important destinations such as the Hierapolis Archaeological Site in Denizli and the Ephesus Archaeological Site in İzmir will also host visitors until late at night.
The Mount Nemrut Archaeological Site in Adıyaman will open its doors at 04:00 for those who wish to watch the sunrise. This initiative aims to offer an unforgettable experience for summer vacationers and culture enthusiasts.
