A new era at the Oscars: AI-made films will also be eligible for nominations
The Oscars, one of the most prestigious awards in the film world, has announced that it will accept films created using artificial intelligence as nominees under certain conditions.
According to a statement released on the official website of the Academy, which selects the Oscar winners, new award rules that will be effective as of this year have been shared. Accordingly, productions that use artificial intelligence in their creative process will also be able to compete for an Oscar, provided they meet certain conditions.
THE EXTENT OF HUMAN INVOLVEMENT WILL BE TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT
On the other hand, jury members will take into account "the extent of human involvement in the production of the film" when selecting the winning films.
The rules also mandate that jury members must watch all nominated films in order to be eligible to vote in the final round.

HAD DRAWN CRITICISM DUE TO AI USE
The film "The Brutalist", which won the "Best Cinematography" and "Best Actor" awards at the 97th Oscar ceremony held this year, had drawn criticism due to its use of artificial intelligence.
Hollywood actors and screenwriters also went on strike in 2023 after negotiations regarding job security against artificial intelligence failed to yield results.
