Braugher's publicist, Jennifer Allen, stated to the Associated Press (AP) that the actor died following a brief illness. Andre Braugher won an Emmy Award in 1998 for his role as Detective Frank Pembleton in the NBC series "Homicide: Life on the Street."
The veteran actor won his second Emmy award in 2006 for the series "Thief." Braugher was nominated for a total of 11 Emmy awards.
Years later, he transitioned to comedy with the role of Captain Ray Holt in "Brooklyn Nine-Nine," which starred Andy Samberg.
The series ran for eight seasons on NBC from 2013 to 2021.
