Award for cartoonist Hicabi Demirci from Mexico
Turkish cartoonist Hicabi Demirci has won an "Honorable Mention" in Mexico, selected from thousands of entries from 65 countries in an international competition themed around freedom.
Cartoonist Hicabi Demirci has been awarded at the 10th International "Caminos de la Libertad" Cartoon Contest held in Mexico. More than 1,630 entries from 65 countries were submitted to the competition, which was held this year with the theme of freedom. Demirci's work was deemed worthy of an "Honorable Mention" by the jury.
Demirci shared the award with his followers on his Instagram account, recalling the words of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk: "As long as half of a society remains chained to the ground, it is impossible for the other half to rise to the skies."
