Awards presented at the Berlinale: Messages of support for Palestine voiced

The 74th Berlin International Film Festival has presented its awards.

At a festival where political messages took center stage, the Golden Bear was awarded to Senegalese director Mati Diop's film 'Dahomey'.

Diop made festival history as the first Black female director to win this award in the history of the Berlinale.

FIFTH SILVER BEAR FOR HONG SANG-SOO

The Silver Bear Jury Prize, the second most important award in the Main Competition category, was given to the film "A Traveler's Needs" by South Korean director Hong Sang-soo, which stars one of the leading figures of European independent cinema, Isabelle Huppert.

The film follows a French woman's search for self in South Korea. With this film, Hong has won a 'Silver Bear' at the Berlinale for the fifth time.
