'Giselle' ballet performance to be held at AKM
The Istanbul State Opera and Ballet has announced that the premiere of the ballet Giselle will take place on October 27 at the AKM Türk Telekom Opera Hall.
The Istanbul State Opera and Ballet (İDOB) will hold the premiere of the ballet Giselle on October 27 at the AKM Türk Telekom Opera Hall.
According to the statement made by İDOB, the subject of Giselle is taken from the Legend of the Wilis, which the great German poet Heinrich Heine described in his book "De l'Allemagne" (On Germany), and it was first performed on June 28, 1841, at the Ballet du Théâtre de l'Académie Royale de Musique in the Salle Le Peletier in Paris.
A TRAGIC AND ROMANTIC STORY
The work tells the tragic and romantic story of a young, beautiful, and shy peasant girl named Giselle who loves to dance, and Count Albrecht, who introduces himself to her as a farmer named "Loys" and falls in love with her.
The ballet Giselle, which İDOB has included in its repertoire again this year, is being staged by Zeynep Sunal Öngün.
Following the premiere on the evening of October 27, the work will meet ballet lovers at the AKM Türk Telekom Opera Hall on November 1, 7, 15 and December 2 and 7, and at the Kadıköy Municipality Süreyya Opera Stage on November 4, 21, and 22.
