BBC reporter Carlos Serrano wrote about how his daily life suddenly changed after the world's most famous street artist, Banksy, painted his latest work on the wall adjacent to his home on Hornsey Road in London.

Stating that since the Sunday the mural appeared, crowds of people have been gathering under his window to see the work and wanting to take photos in front of it, Serrano said, "I am used to seeing Londoners in social life with serious facial expressions," adding, "I suddenly find myself chatting with strangers who bombard me with questions."

"Some of those I allow into my garden, with a mix of politeness and uncertainty about what to do, want to give me a 5-pound tip through their children," said Serrano, adding, "Although I thought for a moment that my rent might skyrocket because of this mural, my conscience kicks in and I refuse the money offered. I tell the children to buy themselves candy from the shop next to my apartment."

BBC reporter Serrano added that he also started receiving commercial advice regarding the increased value of his home with Banksy's work, saying, "Someone with a better nose for money than me suggests I put the apartment on Airbnb; they suggest I could advertise it as a 'beautiful apartment decorated with an original Banksy.' No, I didn't see Banksy painting it. I wasn't home when he drew the mural."

Stating that his apartment has become a tourist attraction, Serrano mentioned that he has given interviews to four media outlets, including those from Japan and Germany, and said, "An Australian man gifted me a Polaroid photo he took."

The BBC reporter, who said he started connecting with people from all over the world through this occasion, said, "I am interacting with the followers of a young Mexican man who is live-streaming on TikTok. A woman who is Colombian like me says that if she were in my place, she would have already started selling fast food and beer. A Norwegian woman who will only stay in London for eight hours says she dedicated that time to coming to my neighborhood to see the painting."
