Calls for Israel to be banned from Eurovision
Finnish artists have demanded that Israel be banned from Eurovision due to the Israel-Gaza war.
Finland's public broadcaster Yle has announced that more than 1,400 Finnish artists have signed a letter stating that Israel should be excluded from the Eurovision contest, which will take place in Malmö, Sweden, from May 7-11, 2024.
IF ISRAEL PARTICIPATES IN THE CONTEST...
Yle stated that Finnish rapper Jesse Markin, one of the seven artists competing to represent Finland in the Eurovision Song Contest, will not participate in the competition if Israel is allowed to take part.
The artists also said they expect Yle's support regarding the exclusion of Israel from the contest.
Yle, for its part, stated that they are closely monitoring the situation and are in discussions with the European Broadcasting Union and the public broadcasters of other countries.
