'Carmina Burana' meets art lovers at AKM

Staged by the Istanbul State Opera and Ballet (İDOB), the work "Carmina Burana" held its premiere at the Atatürk Cultural Center (AKM) Türk Telekom Opera Hall.

'Carmina Burana' meets art lovers at AKM

According to the statement by the Istanbul State Opera and Ballet (İDOB), the work met with art lovers as a choreographic stage cantata with a cast of approximately 250 people.

The direction of the work was undertaken by Deputy General Director of the State Opera and Ballet Volkan Ersoy and İDOB Chief Ballet Choreographer Ayşem Sunal Savaşkurt.

The 24 pieces in Carmina Burana were brought to life through the choreography of Volkan Ersoy, as well as Deniz Özaydın, Berk Sarıbay, Özgür Adam İnanç, Alper Marangoz, and Ferhat Güneş, while the work was performed by the İDOB choir and soloists, soprano Nazlı Deniz Süren, tenor Ufuk Toker, and baritone Kevork Tavityan.

Following its premiere, the work will be staged again at AKM tomorrow at 20:00 and will later meet with art lovers again on June 1 and 14 at the 15th International Istanbul Opera and Ballet Festival.

Also known as the Beuern songs, "Carmina Burana" consists of 254 poems and dramatic texts from the 11th, 12th, and 13th centuries, found in the Bavarian Library in Munich.
