Chinese culture in Beyoğlu! A new cultural space has opened in collaboration with Kırmızı Kedi and Xinhua

As part of a cultural cooperation agreement signed between Kırmızı Kedi Publishing and China's long-established bookstore chain Xinhua Bookstore, a Chinese Culture Section has opened at the Kırmızı Kedi Pera store in Beyoğlu. The project aims to deepen cooperation between the two countries in the fields of publishing and literature.

The opening was attended by Yuan Hu, Deputy General Manager of Xinhua Bookstore and General Manager of Xinhua Worldwei International Cultural Media Company; Wei Zhengzhong, Political and Press Director of the Chinese Consulate General; Wei Hu, Co-Director of the Confucius Institute at Okan University; and representatives of the Chinese press. During the event, gifts were exchanged within the framework of the cultural cooperation, and future projects were evaluated.

Kırmızı Kedi Publishing founder Haluk Hepkon stated in his speech, "We are happy to announce such a meaningful cooperation on April 24, the founding day of Xinhua Bookstore, and April 23, Turkey's national holiday." He emphasized that this step, which will bring China's historical and cultural heritage to Turkey, will contribute to the establishment of closer relations between the two countries.

Xinhua Bookstore official Yuan Hu stated that the cooperation, which has been ongoing since last year, has begun to bear fruit, saying, "We are working together so that Turkish cultural products can find more space in China, and publications belonging to Chinese culture can find more space in Turkey." Noting that more works should be translated from Turkish into Chinese, Hu remarked that cultural dialogue will develop even further in the coming period.

Wei Zhengzhong, Political and Press Director of the Chinese Consulate General, pointed out that this is the first time a publishing house cooperation of this scale has been implemented between Turkey and China, and said that the initiative will strengthen mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples.

Founded in 1937 under the Chinese Communist Party, Xinhua Bookstore is one of the world's largest bookstore chains today, with over 17 thousand stores and more than 100 thousand employees. As another step in the cooperation, Kırmızı Kedi Publishing is preparing to open a Turkish Culture Section in Beijing in June.
