Cinema Authors Federation established: Copyright issues to be resolved
Four professional associations of cinema authors have come together to establish the Cinema Authors Federation (SEF). Through this union, cinema authors aim to achieve much broader, more effective, and faster results regarding copyrights.
Four professional associations of cinema authors, whose members consist of directors and screenwriters—BSB, Senaristbir, Setem, and Sinebir—have established the Cinema Authors Federation (SEF).
The board of directors of SEF, which held its 1st Ordinary General Assembly last weekend, consists of Mehmet Güleryüz, Tunç Davut, Yıldız Bilgin Bayazıt, Bahriye Kabadayı Dal, Ayhan Sonyürek, Sadullah Şentürk, Orhan Koçak, and Hakan Aytekin.
At the general assembly held on Saturday, June 8, with a large turnout, cinema authors took a historic step for the cinema sector in Turkey.
CISAC APPROVED
CISAC, the umbrella organization for authors worldwide, reviewed and approved the membership application of the Cinema Authors Federation (SEF) at its General Assembly held in Seoul, South Korea, between May 27 and June 1.
According to the report in BirGün, thanks to the newly established federation, it will become much more feasible to sign copyright agreements with new countries and collect royalties from different countries and geographies around the world.
AUTHORS' HANDS WILL BE STRENGTHENED
It is also stated that this membership will strengthen the hand of cinema authors in conducting copyright negotiations with channels and institutions in Turkey, as well as in carrying out lobbying activities and exerting pressure on this issue.
The contribution, support, and lobbying activities of CISAC, which carries significant weight in the world regarding copyrights, both in Turkey and abroad, will pave the way for accelerating the royalty collection processes.
Cinema authors now believe that they will achieve much broader, more effective, and faster results regarding copyrights.
