Culture and arts season opens in Istanbul
The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Department of Culture held the opening of the 2023-2024 new season with a special invitation at the Cemal Reşit Rey Concert Hall on the evening of Thursday, September 28.
At the event, attended by many figures from the art world and representatives of various institutions, the 2023-2024 event plan and long-term strategic policies of IMM Culture were presented.
Among the new season goals of IMM Culture, the democratization of art, the right to culture, the civilianization of spaces, policies for children, and new culture and art policies stood out as key topics.
During the invitation, where many topics were announced—ranging from the right to culture to the newly established Istanbul Culture Policy Center, and from mobile culture-arts events to the creation of units that will identify and provide solutions for the problems of independent artists and industry workers—Bülent Ortaçgil was accompanied by his guests Aylin Aslım and Jehan Barbur with their songs. Following the concert, the show titled “Istanbul Is Mine”, prepared for this special day by the Shaman Dance Theater and featuring guest appearances by Cengiz Özkan, Chromas, and Samida, was performed.
