Another addition is being made to the list of adaptations from video games to cinema and television. The game Cyberpunk 2077, which stands out with its science fiction universe from CD Projekt Red, will be adapted as a feature film by Paramount Pictures.
According to information reported by Deadline, the project is still in the early stages of development. For this reason, no finalized information has been shared regarding the film's cast, director, filming schedule, or release date.
On the production side, there is a notable name involved. Lorenzo di Bonaventura, known for his work on the Transformers series, will serve as a producer on the Cyberpunk 2077 adaptation. Bonaventura’s experience with big-budget action films has increased curiosity about how the game’s dark and neon-lit Night City atmosphere will be translated to the screen.
Following its troubled launch in 2020, Cyberpunk 2077 regained strong momentum through updates and additional content from CD Projekt Red. According to the company's latest statements, the game has surpassed the 40 million sales mark worldwide.
It is currently unknown whether the adaptation will follow the main story of the game or focus on a new narrative set in the same universe. The project is expected to become clearer in the coming period regarding details such as the screenplay, director, and cast.
