Deadpool & Wolverine movie censored in China

Considered one of the biggest adult-oriented series in the Marvel universe, 'Deadpool & Wolverine' will be released in China on July 26, simultaneously with North American countries.

It was announced that there would be "minimal cuts" to the film for its Chinese release due to "some scenes containing blood and violence and issues arising from linguistic differences."

This is not the first time a foreign film has been censored in China. All foreign films intended for distribution in the country must obtain import permits, pass censorship, and be assigned a release date by local authorities.

The July 26 Chinese release of 'Deadpool & Wolverine', approved by the country's Film Bureau, was announced on Monday morning local time via Marvel's local Weibo (social media) account and was later confirmed by Disney.

'CUT' EXPLANATION

While Disney and Marvel did not make a clear statement regarding the censorship in the film, it was reported that the cuts were "minimal and stemmed from violence, blood, and gore, as well as language."

Sources close to the studio claimed that no cuts were made that would affect the integrity of the storytelling and that the film remained faithful to the spirit of Deadpool.
