WHO IS DJ TIESTO?
Tijs Michiel Verwest was born on January 17, 1969. He began his professional DJ career in the early 1980s with school and house parties. Between 1985 and 1993, he worked as a resident DJ in nightclubs in the Netherlands.
The club called The Spock became the place where many things took shape for Tiësto. Moving away from hardcore/gabber style tracks, he began to shape his own sound at this club on weekends from 10:00 PM to 4:00 AM, and he also created a remix for Tarkan's song "Pare Pare".
He used many aliases in the past, the most well-known of which is DJ Tiesto. With the removal of the "DJ" label in his recent works, he has become known simply as Tiësto.
He is best known for his remix of the Delerium track "Silence" and his interpretation of Samuel Barber's "Adagio for Strings". In the DJ Top 100 ranking conducted by reader votes by DJ Mag, one of the world's most respected music magazines, he ranked 4th in 2013, following Avicii.
He won the "The Greatest DJ Of All Time" award as a result of a poll conducted by Mixmag, receiving the vast majority of the votes.
