WHO IS DUYGU ASENA?
Duygu Asena was born in Istanbul in 1946. She used the signature "Şirin" in her early writings. She graduated from the Kadıköy Private Girls' College and the Department of Pedagogy at Istanbul University. Her first article appeared in the Kelebek supplement of the Hürriyet newspaper, and Duygu Asena went on to manage magazines such as Kadınca (1978), Onyedi, Ev Kadını, Bella, KİM, and Negatif.
She began her career as a columnist at the Milliyet newspaper and worked as a columnist, manager, and interviewer for the newspapers Cumhuriyet, Yarın, Sabah, Güneş, Habertürk, and Vatan. She prepared and hosted the program "Ondan Sonra" on TRT 2 (1992-1997).
Asena, who made a name for herself with her first book, Kadının Adı Yok (The Woman Has No Name), saw this work reach a wide readership before it was banned in 1988 for being deemed obscene. While the lawsuit was ongoing, it was adapted into a film by Atıf Yılmaz.
Following a two-year trial, the publication of the book was permitted again. Known as a feminist writer due to the themes she addressed in her articles and books, Duygu Asena passed away in 2006.

Orada Kadınlar Var mı?, Aslında Özgürsün, Aslında Aşk da Yok, Değişen Bir Şey Yok, Kadının Adı Yok, Aşk Gidiyorum Demez, Aynada Aşk Vardı, Paramparça, Kahramanlar Hep Erkek.
