Empty space next to Marilyn Monroe's grave goes up for auction
The space next to the grave of Hollywood icon Marilyn Monroe is going up for auction. Monroe's lipstick and pajamas will also be sold at the auction.
Marilyn Monroe and Hugh Hefner are very close, and the burial plot, which is one row above and four spaces to the left of Monroe's grave, is going up for sale at auction.
Although a starting bid of 50 thousand dollars has been set for the space at Westwood Village Memorial Park Cemetery, the auction house predicts that the price will at least quadruple, with the plot expected to fetch at least 400 thousand dollars.
HER BELONGINGS ARE ALSO GOING ON SALE
In the auction to be held by Julien's Auctions, in addition to the grave near Monroe, Monroe's dress from the film 'The Seven Year Itch' (1955), the dress she wore at the press conference for the film 'The Misfits' (1960), the first Playboy magazine featuring Monroe on the cover, her lipstick, and her silk pajamas will also be sold.
After Monroe's death, it was planned for Playboy founder Hefner to be buried in a grave near Monroe.
Hefner, who is known to have spent 75 thousand dollars in 1992 to secure his spot, had told the Los Angeles Times, "Spending eternity next to Marilyn is too sweet to pass up."
More than 600 historical artifacts that once belonged to Monroe will be up for sale from March 28 to March 30.
