The 33-year-old son of the actor, known for productions such as CSI: NY, Apollo 13, Forrest Gump, and The Green Mile, McCanna Sinise, had been receiving treatment for a while.
The Emmy-winning actor, who announced his son's death, shared a memorial post on the website of the foundation he founded.
'IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO LOSE HIM'
In his post, Sinise stated, "As parents, it is so very difficult to lose a child. My heart goes out to all who have suffered a similar loss, and to anyone who has lost a loved one. We have all experienced this in some way."
