Fatih Akın begins filming his new movie 'Amrum'
Filming has begun in Hamburg for director Fatih Akın's new movie 'Amrum', which is set during World War II and based on the childhood story of German director Hark Bohm.
The cast of Amrum includes names such as Laura Tonke, Diane Kruger and Jasper Billerbeck.
Fatih Akın and Hark Bohm previously collaborated on the screenplay for the 2017 film 'In the Fade', which was directed by Akın.
First announced in 2022, the film is set in the spring of 1945, during the final days of the war, on the island of Amrum in Germany's North Sea.
Akın's new film centers on a 12-year-old boy named Nanning, who goes seal hunting, fishes at night, and works in the fields to help feed his family.
'A JOURNEY UNTIL BEING EXPELLED FROM PARADISE'
According to a report by Independent Türkçe, Akın, who stated, "This project, which began as a Hark Bohm film, has now become my 12th feature film and an extraordinary mission for me," said the following about the movie:
"Amrum tells the story of young Nanning, who uncovers his family's dark secret a little more each day during the final week of World War II, and his journey that lasts until he is eventually expelled from paradise."
