Musician Soner Olgun, who passed away at the age of 67 due to pancreatic cancer, was laid to rest following a ceremony attended by his artist friends, family, and loved ones. Emotional moments were experienced at the memorial ceremony held for Olgun at the Harbiye Muhsin Ertuğrul Stage.
Olgun, who had been receiving treatment for a long time, passed away on October 16 at the hospital where he was admitted. The ceremony was attended by his daughters Elif Olgun and Ayşecan Olgun, his former wife Özlem Koldaş, his family, actors Hüseyin Avni Danyal and Menderes Samancılar, and many other figures from the art world.
Speaking at the ceremony, Hüseyin Avni Danyal said that Olgun left a mark not only with his identity as a musician but also with his work in literature and theater. Danyal stated, "For me, Soner was a very good magazine editor, a good writer, a good playwright, a good friend, and a good older brother."
Danyal also recounted the support Olgun gave him in his stage work, saying, "Whenever I was in trouble, he was always there to support me. I don't think I will ever forget it for the rest of my life. His love will always be with me."
Actor Menderes Samancılar bid farewell to Olgun with the words, "We loved him very much, our dear friend, may he rest in peace." Pointing to the pain of losing friends at a young age, Samancılar offered his condolences to the art community.
Olgun's former wife, Özlem Koldaş, also spoke at the ceremony, recounting the years they spent together. In her speech, which began with the words, "Oh my dear Soner, how am I going to say goodbye to you?", Koldaş said to their daughter Elif, "Don't you worry at all, I will take very good care of her, Soner."
It was reported that following the ceremony in Harbiye, Soner Olgun would be laid to rest at Hasdal Cemetery after the funeral prayer to be held at Teşvikiye Mosque following the noon prayer.
