From Beethoven to Prokofiev at Pera Museum: 'A Musical Journey'
The Pera Museum is hosting a special concert as part of the 100th anniversary of Turkey-Japan relations. The recital titled “From Beethoven to Prokofiev: A Musical Journey,” featuring violinist Mina Aoki-Girardelli and pianist Çağdaş Özkan, will meet audiences on May 4th on the floor housing the 'Intersecting Worlds: Ambassadors and Painters' exhibition.
The Suna and İnan Kıraç Foundation cultural institutions continue to contribute to the cultural bridge between Turkey and Japan. Since 2009, the Pera Museum has hosted exhibitions by Akira Kurosawa, the Japan Media Arts Festival, and Ikuo Hirayama, as well as various events related to Japanese culture.
The Istanbul Research Institute, meanwhile, presented the exhibition "Crescent and Sun: Three Japanese in Istanbul" to art lovers as part of the "2010 Year of Japan in Turkey."
This time, the Pera Museum will host a special concert as part of the 100th anniversary of the two countries' diplomatic relations.
The concert will take place on Saturday, May 4th, at 19:30 on the floor featuring the Intersecting Worlds: Ambassadors and Painters exhibition, which presents a selection from the Foundation's Orientalist Painting Collection. Violinist Mina Aoki-Girardelli and pianist Çağdaş Özkan will offer the audience a program exploring different facets of the violin repertoire.
The “From Beethoven to Prokofiev: A Musical Journey” concert, performed by Mina Aoki-Girardelli—a student of violin virtuoso Boris Belkin—alongside pianist Çağdaş Özkan, will present masterpieces from different eras to music lovers, ranging from the giant of classical music Beethoven to the virtuosity of Sarasate, and from the witty salon miniatures of Kreisler to the surreal world of Prokofiev.
