52nd International Emmy Awards winners announced: Britain takes the lead

52nd International Emmy Awards winners announced: Britain takes the lead

The International Emmy Awards, presented by the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences to productions created outside the United States, were held in New York.

Indian comedian Vir Das made history as the first Indian to host the awards ceremony.

Timothy Spall won the "Best Performance by an Actor" award at the 52nd International Emmy Awards.

"Drops of God" (Les Gouttes de Dieu) was honored in the "Best Drama Series" category, while "División Palermo" won in the "Best Comedy Series" category.

According to a report by India Today, Vir Das opened the night by saying, “I’m nervous, but I’m good. My nervousness is good. I think if you don’t want to throw up a little bit from excitement before a show, it’s not going to be a good show. So I’m definitely in the mood.”

International Academy President and CEO Bruce L. Paisner stated, “In these turbulent times, television is an art form that brings people together from all over the world, regardless of their culture or language. The International Academy is proud to recognize these outstanding programs and performances.”

"Drops of God" (Les Gouttes de Dieu) was honored in the "Best Drama Series" category, while "División Palermo" won in the "Best Comedy Series" category.

Timothy Spall won the "Best Performance by an Actor" award at the 52nd International Emmy Awards. His win for "The Sixth Commandment" follows the BAFTA TV Award he received for the same performance earlier this year.

Britain topped the country rankings with four awards, winning in the categories of best actor, documentary, sports documentary, and children's animation.

Spain followed with two awards. This year, nominees from 21 countries competed in 14 categories.

Additionally, Emmy-winning writer-producer David E. Kelley was honored with the 2024 International Emmy Founders Award, and Gaumont CEO Sidonie Dumas received the 2024 International Emmy Directorate Award.

The Turkish series Safir and actor Haluk Bilginer, known for the series Şahsiyet, were nominated for Emmy awards.

The awards ceremony was attended by Safir lead actors Haluk Bilginer, Özge Yağız, and Burak Berkay Akgül, as well as producers Fatih Aksoy and Mehmet Yiğit Alp.
