The highest-grossing anime film of all time in the US: The Boy and the Heron

The film, directed by Hayao Miyazaki, earned an estimated 5.1 million dollars in its second weekend in the US, placing it in third place.

The film, which has now reached a total of 23.1 million dollars in the country, experienced a 60% drop despite the addition of 120 screens, for a total of 2,325 screens.

The Boy and the Heron surpassed the previous record holder, The Secret World of Arrietty, which grossed a total of 19.2 million dollars in 2012.
