His concerts were canceled: Statement from Migros Turkey on Fazıl Say

World-renowned pianist Fazıl Say announced that his concerts in Switzerland were canceled by Migros because he shared his views on the war between Israel and Palestine.

Explaining that 4 of his concerts were canceled, Fazıl Say stated, "The officials of the Migros company cited the ideas I reflected on my social media regarding the Israel-Palestine tension as the reason. I wrote that I find Netanyahu's war policy, which has no future, to be very wrong and criminal. And finally; I found Erdoğan's approach to this issue to be 'sensible and peaceful' towards both sides, and I supported it."

STATEMENT FROM MİGROS TURKEY: WE HAVE NO CONNECTION TO THE CONCERTS

A statement regarding the matter has come from Migros Turkey.  

Stating that they have no connection to the concert cancellations, Migros Turkey made a post by quoting Fazıl Say's statement. In Migros Turkey's post, it was said, "Migros Turkey has no connection whatsoever to these concerts."

SUPPORT FOR FAZIL SAY HAD COME FROM THE AKP

Support for Fazıl Say, whose concerts were canceled, had come from the AKP. AKP Spokesperson Ömer Çelik stated, "A dark mentality, as if wanting to destroy all the values of civilization, is targeting university students, intellectuals, writers, athletes, and artists who oppose Israel's inhumane aggression and advocate for peace. In this context, we condemn the cancellation of our artist Fazıl Say's concerts in Europe due to his ideas opposing Israel's inhumane attacks in Palestine."
