The memory of water, which emerged in Istanbul where different architectural approaches have come together for centuries, is being revived today through photographs.

Mecidiyeköy Sanat will bring the photography exhibition 'Memory of Water: Istanbul's Historical Waterways,' which consists of photographs of historical water structures that are elements of a water civilization born from the synthesis of the Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman periods, to art lovers.

The exhibition, prepared in cooperation with İSKİ (Istanbul Water and Sewerage Administration), İBB Miras, and İFSAK (Istanbul Amateur Photographers and Cinema Association), will be open for visitors between December 19, 2023, and January 12, 2024.

3450 PHOTOGRAPHS INCLUDED IN THE PROJECT

A total of 3450 photographs, selected from nearly 10 thousand photos taken by photographers over four years and four seasons, were included in the scope of the project.

The project, which features photographs of historical water structures in Istanbul, aims to increase the recognition of the structures whose maintenance and restoration are meticulously carried out by İSKİ, as well as to strengthen the ties between water and art.
