İlhan Şeşen's biggest dream was to be a journalist

İlhan Şeşen, known for the romantic songs of Turkish music, has closed his eyes to life at the age of 76. The artist, who was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2023, left deep marks in the music world.

HE DREAMED OF BECOMING A JOURNALIST

Born in Manisa in 1948, İlhan Şeşen dreamed of becoming a journalist in his youth. However, he enrolled in the Faculty of Law and worked as a lawyer. Şeşen had explained the reason for leaving the legal profession with his idealism.

His interest in music began in 1968 when he sang in dance music orchestras. He took his first step into his music career with the 45-rpm record titled 'Kavga' released in 1971. In 1983, he founded the group Grup Gündoğarken with his nephews, establishing an important place in the music world.

ACHIEVEMENTS IN THE MUSIC WORLD

İlhan Şeşen began his solo career in 1994 with the album 'Aşk Haklı'. He achieved a major breakthrough with his 2002 album 'Neler Oluyor Bize'. The songs on this album, especially 'Neler Oluyor Bize', were very popular with listeners. He released the album 'Aşk Yalan' in 2005 and the album 'Gel' in 2013.

The artist was also actively involved in the television world. He acted in series such as 'Aliye', 'Annem', and 'Hayatımın Rolü'. After releasing the album 'İstanbullu Şarkılar' in 2017, he released the album 'Ciddi Eğlence' with Burçin Büke in 2018.

SPECIAL CELEBRATION FOR HIS ARTISTIC ANNIVERSARY

İlhan Şeşen celebrated his 55th year in art with a special event held at the Caddebostan Cultural Center last February. At the event, which was presented by Sunay Akın, many artists performed Şeşen's songs.
