Istanbul Film Festival meets cinema enthusiasts for the 44th time

The 44th Istanbul Film Festival, organized by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (İKSV), will meet cinema lovers between April 11-22, 2025, across seven different venues. The festival will feature select examples of world cinema, cult works, and the latest films from master directors and young talents.

FESTIVAL PROGRAM AND SCREENINGS

The festival will consist of a broad program featuring 139 feature films and 15 short films. Screenings will be held in various movie theaters across Istanbul. Additionally, the festival program will include talks, special screenings, and events with the participation of guest directors and actors.

COMPETITION SECTIONS

This year, there will be three main competition sections at the festival:

Golden Tulip Competition: In this section, where domestic and foreign films are evaluated together, 15 feature films will compete. The jury will be chaired by Indian filmmaker Shekhar Kapur.

Short Film Competition: 12 domestic and foreign short films will be evaluated.

New Perspectives: Innovative and original films by young talents will meet the audience in this section.

HONORARY AND ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS

Within the scope of the festival, the Cinema Honorary Award will be presented to master actress and singer Zuhal Olcay, who has packed countless theater plays, films, and music albums into her artistic career. Additionally, the Achievement Award will be given to Gülin Üstün, who served as the director of Meetings on the Bridge between 2010 and 2023.

FILMS IN SEVEN THEATERS

This year's screenings of the Istanbul Film Festival will be shown in seven different theaters. The screenings will take place in 7 venues: Atlas 1948 and Beyoğlu Cinema in Beyoğlu; CineWAM Premium+ City's Nişantaşı (Hall 3 and Hall 7) in Şişli; and Kadıköy Cinema, Kadıköy Municipality Sinematek/Cinema House, and Paribu Cineverse Nautilus in Kadıköy. Screening times will be 11:00, 13:30, 16:00, 19:00, and 21:30.
