Kamil Sönmez, one of the unforgettable names of Turkish folk music, was commemorated at his graveside in Ordu on the 11th anniversary of his passing.
Artist Kamil Sönmez, who passed away in 2012 following a brain hemorrhage, was commemorated at his graveside on the 11th anniversary of his death.
A commemoration program was organized by the Ordu Perşembe Municipality at his grave in the district's Kozağı Neighborhood on the anniversary of his passing.
In addition to the family of the famous artist, who also acted in theater, cinema, and television series, Perşembe Mayor Mustafa Sayım Tandoğan and students placed carnations on his grave.
'WE NEED TO SHOW HIM THIS RESPECT'
Stating that Sönmez, who was a state artist, put great effort into promoting Ordu and the region, Tandoğan said, "We built a grave worthy of him. Kamil Sönmez was very valuable to us. We needed to show him this respect," he stated.
