Lifetime Achievement Award presented to Oscar-winner Nicole Kidman
The American Film Institute (AFI) has awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award to 56-year-old Australian actress Nicole Kidman.
At the ceremony held in Hollywood, USA, the AFI Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to the successful actress Nicole Kidman by American actress Meryl Streep.
In her speech on stage, Kidman said, "Making films is a privilege," and could not hold back tears of joy.
The Australian film star was accompanied by her singer husband, Keith Urban.
Numerous Hollywood actors also attended the awards night.
The Lifetime Achievement Award, described by the AFI as "the highest honor for a career in film," has previously been given to famous actors and directors such as Streep, Julie Andrews, Denzel Washington, Robert De Niro, Martin Scorsese, and Steven Spielberg.
Kidman won an Oscar for Best Actress in 2003 for her performance in the film "The Hours."
