Marvel Television has finalized the schedule for its new live-action series Zodiac. The production is planned to meet audiences on Disney+ in 2028. Filming for the series is expected to begin in London during the spring.
While news of cancellations and delays regarding some projects has recently come to the fore on the Marvel front, the announcement of Zodiac has drawn attention, particularly due to the possibility of a S.H.I.E.L.D. connection. The production stands out as the first new live-action series announced by Marvel Television after Ironheart.
The presence of elements resembling the S.H.I.E.L.D. emblem in the logo shared for the series has brought new theories among comic book readers. Marvel Television President Brad Winderbaum also stated that the logo contains hidden messages that comic book fans might notice.
In the comics, Zodiac is known as a spy organization positioned against S.H.I.E.L.D. The fact that Scorpio, one of the organization's key figures whose members are classified according to astrological signs, is Nick Fury's brother Jacob Fury, strengthens the question of which characters the series will bring to the agenda.
Another aspect of Zodiac that is being wondered about is whether it will open the door to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. characters. Chloe Bennet, who played the character Daisy “Quake” Johnson, had previously expressed her discomfort with the series not being accepted as part of the main storyline of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
However, for now, there is no official statement that old characters will appear in Zodiac. Although Marvel's return to the world of espionage seems certain, how deep the S.H.I.E.L.D. connection will go and which elements of the Nick Fury family will be explored remain unclear.
