Director, actor, screenwriter, and author Ali Özgentürk has passed away.

Ali Özgentürk's brother, director and journalist Nebil Özgentürk, announced the sad news via social media. Sharing the news on his Instagram account, Nebil Özgentürk stated that his older brother, Ali Özgentürk, had passed away.

"My brother... We have lost film director Ali ÖZGENTÜRK..

He was a theater actor in his youth.. And a filmmaker for 50 years..

He was the father of Simay and Dünya..

He was the director of 15 films in total, primarily Hazal and The Horse (At)..

He was also the screenwriter of the film The Girl with the Red Scarf (Selvi Boylum Al Yazmalım)... The film that left the words "love is labor" in its finale.

He guided and contributed greatly to my childhood, my early youth, and my professional life...

I am very sad.."

WHO IS ALİ ÖZGENTÜRK?

Ali Özgentürk, whose real name was Ali Habib Özgentürk, was born on November 4, 1945, in Adana. He studied philosophy and sociology at Istanbul University. Entering the cinema industry by working as a camera assistant, Özgentürk served as an assistant to directors such as Atıf Yılmaz and Yılmaz Güney. He made a name for himself and won many awards with his first feature film, "Hazal," which he shot in 1979. In addition to directing, he was active in many fields including screenwriting, producing, and acting. He was also the older brother of journalist and director Nebil Özgentürk.
