About Mezit Bey Bath

Located to the west of the Selimiye Mosque and to the east of the Old Mosque, the Mezit Bey Bath is one of the works brought to the city by Murad II in the 15th century.

Compared to other Edirne baths, the Mezitbey Bath has a simpler structure, and its rectangular dressing room has a wooden ceiling.

The cold section of the bath is covered by a dome resting on vaults rising from two sides.

The bath, which has a hot section in the middle covered by a large dome with pendentives (an architectural transition element that allows a dome to sit on a square-planned structure), has been expanded with iwans on both sides.

As one of the important structures reflecting the historical texture of Edirne, the bath offers its visitors the opportunity to experience Ottoman-era bath architecture.
