More than 1 million citizens visited the Hacı Bektaş-ı Veli Museum
The complex in the Hacıbektaş district of Nevşehir, where Hacı Bektaş Veli—known for his significant influence on the spread of Turks into Anatolia after arriving from Khorasan in the 13th century—trained many scholars, attracted intense interest from visitors in 2023.
The Hacı Bektaş Veli Museum, one of Turkey's most important centers for faith tourism, was visited by 1 million 196 thousand 240 people in 2023.
At the Hacı Bektaş Veli Complex, which has been on the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List since 2012, long queues form to drink water from the Aslanlı Çeşme (Lion Fountain), which is considered 'sacred,' while visitors tour the museum, the soup kitchen, and the "pir evi" (house of the saint) within the complex.
Inside the museum, those entering the area where Hacı Bektaş Veli's tomb is located kiss the doors out of respect and offer prayers.
