New exhibition at Metrohan: 'Between Times and Layers'
As part of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Turkey, the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) is opening the retrospective exhibition "Gülseren Südor: Between Times and Layers" at Metrohan, the second in a series of exhibitions featuring the works of pioneering female artists in Turkish painting.
The series of exhibitions, which will cover important artists raised by the Republic, aims to focus on the unique characteristics of pioneering artists in Turkish painting.
While these exhibitions focus on the lives and art of female artists of the Republican era, they also aim to provide a path for the development of Turkish painting in its historical process.
The retrospective exhibition "Gülseren Südor: Between Times and Layers", based on the individual and social testimonies of Gülseren Südor, one of the important female painters of Turkish art, throughout her sixty-year artistic career, will meet with Istanbulites at Metrohan between December 21, 2023, and February 18, 2024.
Curated by Telga Südor Mendi, the exhibition will showcase nearly 170 works by Gülseren Südor from personal and private collections.
