Nuri Bilge Ceylan's film About Dry Grasses, which brought Merve Dizdar the Best Actress award at Cannes and Ece Bağcı the Best Supporting Actress award at the Chicago International Film Festival, will be available to watch on Netflix starting March 1.

The film, in which Nuri Bilge Ceylan once again demonstrates his mastery of both directing and photography, became his most-watched film with 308 thousand 730 viewers.

The 2023 drama film, with a screenplay co-written by Ebru Ceylan and Akın Aksu, stars Deniz Celiloğlu, Merve Dizdar, and Musab Ekici.

ABOUT DRY GRASSES FILM PLOT

Samet is a young art teacher who, after completing four years of mandatory service in a remote village in Eastern Anatolia, dreams of being appointed to Istanbul and shares a house with his colleague, social studies teacher Kenan. Among Samet's students is 14-year-old Sevim, with whom he is close.

When a love letter adorned with hearts addressed to Samet is found in Sevim's notebook by another staff member, both Samet and Sevim are humiliated. After Sevim becomes enraged upon realizing that Samet lied about destroying the letter, Samet's dreams are shattered when he and Kenan become the targets of a sexual abuse accusation.

Samet suspects that Kenan is the real target, and their friendship gradually deteriorates. While trying to clear his name of the accusation, he faces the difficulty of conforming to village norms. Things change when he meets Nuray, another teacher who might be able to help him overcome the troubles he is experiencing.
