One of Paris's symbols: Opening date for Notre-Dame Cathedral announced

It has been exactly 5 years since the fire that occurred on April 15, 2019, at Notre-Dame Cathedral, one of the historical and symbolic structures of Paris.

Philippe Jost, President of Rebatir Notre-Dame de Paris, the public institution responsible for the reconstruction of the cathedral, said that the historical structure will begin welcoming visitors again starting December 8.

MORE THAN 250 COMPANIES PARTICIPATED

Stating that the process is proceeding according to the delivery date and budget, Jost noted that hundreds of artists, architects, and experts, along with more than 250 companies, have participated in the reconstruction work that began in 2022 following the clearing of rubble and the reinforcement of the foundations.

In the fire that broke out in 2019 at Notre-Dame Cathedral, one of the symbols of Paris, which was built between 1163 and 1345, the entire roof of the cathedral collapsed and its spire was destroyed. Following the fire, 846 million euros in donations were collected in the campaign launched for the repair work of the cathedral.

The cause of the fire that broke out in the historical structure has not yet been determined.
