Oya Başar: 'I will perform theater until I die'

Master actress Oya Başar, who was a guest of Balçova Municipality on March 8 International Women's Day, said in a talk before her play that she wants to perform theater until she dies. Stating, "I think I will die on stage," Başar also noted that she overcame the cancer she had years ago thanks to her work.

Going to Balçova to stage her play titled "Plastic Loves" (Plastik Aşklar), in which she stars alongside actress Ebru Kural, Başar was a guest at a talk held at the Izmir University of Economics Conference Hall before the play, moderated by actor Yüksel Ünal.

Stating that she loves Izmir very much, Başar said, "I love every part of my Turkey, but I think the place I would live after Istanbul would be Izmir. I love Izmir and the people of Izmir very much."

Speaking about the history of March 8, the master actress also touched upon her love and respect for Atatürk.

Reminding that Atatürk was the leader who gave Turkish women the right to vote and be elected, Başar said, "I bow with respect."

Following the talk, Balçova Municipality female Council Members İpek Güleryüz Baran and Banu Gençkan presented flowers to Oya Başar and Yüksel Ünal. In addition, students of the Balçova Municipality Painting Course gifted Oya Başar a portrait they prepared using pastel and charcoal.
