It has been reported that 78-year-old Grammy-winning saxophonist David Sanborn, who won 6 Grammy awards, passed away on Sunday in Tarrytown, New York, due to complications from prostate cancer.

Pianist Bob James, who collaborated with David Sanborn on the album 'Double Vision', expressed his sorrow over Sanborn's death on his social media account, stating, "I am deeply saddened by the news of the loss of David Sanborn in the music world. I had the privilege of sharing important moments of my career with him. His legacy will live on through his recordings. Every note he played came directly from his heart, with a passionate intensity that could turn an ordinary melody into something extraordinary."

In a statement, Sanborn had mentioned that he had been battling prostate cancer since 2018 and had recently felt well enough to continue performing live at shows scheduled through 2025.

Last month, the artist had canceled several shows scheduled for May in Virginia, citing health issues.
